Diet Fitness Questions and Answers

Vitamins??

So, everyday I take 3 vitamins:

-Centrum [multi-vitamin]
-Vitamin E [400 I.U.]
-Vitamin C [500 mg.]

I take them all at once.

Is that fine, or should I take them individually [like every hour]?
Answers: All at once with food preferable in the morning. Make sure you eat all the food groups so all the necessary components are available or the vitamins are wasted.
I don't see any ezymens Centrum is better than nothing this is a solid manufacture pill., but is not recommened. If you take any natural vitiman, there should be in capscule form, and no dye of coloring.
after a while these will be bed pan pill and will pass threw your system. and come out the otehr end hole Sanitation department has mountain of these so call vitimans. This i s what is call vitiman poor.

You body can not disovolve them because there is nothing in your system to do so.

What are Enzymes? Enzymes are protein based sustances found in every cell of every plant and animal. Millions of these tiny enzymes work throughout our bodies causing reactions to take place... aiding our breathing, circulation, digestion... helping to reduce inflammation, fight disease, look good, and live longer. Enzymes are catalysts, they either start or accelerate chemical reactions. They occur naturally in our bodies, and can be found in the food we eat, especially in non-processed, unheated fresh fruits, vegetables, and grains.

If i have them naturally and eat them with my food, why should i take enzyme supplements?
As we age, the activity level and quantity of our enzymes decreases. Even if we all ate the USDA recommended 3-5 servings of vegetables and 2-3 servings of fruit daily (only 10% of Americans actually do), the fruit and vegetables that most of us have access to have been in storage for at least a day or two. The enzymatic level of food is reduced by storage, as well as pesticides and other toxins in our food, water, and air. As an aside, if you are interested in ridding your body of these toxins, read about BodyPure here.

What symptoms can be associated with enzyme deficiency?
According to Dr Anthony J Cichoke, fatigue, heartburn, indegestion, allergies, gas, and weight problems can all be symptoms of a lack of enzymes (usually as a result of an unhealthy lifestyle). Dr Chicoke tells us that "Supplemental enzymes can aid digestion, dissolve blood clots, fight back paindecrease swelling, speed up healing, fight wrinkles, clean surfaces of dirty wounds, help in delicate surgery, ease hindered breathingstimulate the immune system... Enzymes are being added to toothpaste for more cleaning power and to skin and nail products to make you look better..."

How can I make sure to have plenty of enzymes in my body?
Eat plenty of fresh, unheated, non-processed, organically grown, enzyme rich foods (pineapple and papaya are 2 examples of particularly enzyme rich foods). Even with a perfect diet, however, you may have a problem digesting or absorbing the nutrients in your food. And even with perfect digestion, you may have a cholesterol buildup or immune system deficiency. In any of these cases, supplemental enzymes can be extremely beneficial.

Where can I get supplemental enzymes?
Right here. BodyZyme are Dr. Recommended, extra strength, systemic enzyme supplements.

Why can't someone under 21 use the diet supplement venom? What will happen if someone under 21 uses it?

Answers: some of the ingredients are potentially harmful.

the ingredient 5-HTP is similar to serotonin. too much of that flooding your system and it can cause all sorts of problems, including addiction. serotonin makes you feel good, many drugs (like heroine) increase dopa and serotonin levels and that causes addiction.

among other things venom can be addictive so you have to be of a certian age. just like alcohol.

also it has a compound in it called capsiate. this is simmilar in composition to DNP (a very dangerous body building steroid). capsiate increases mRNA thats coded for hydrolisis of glucose to ATP. meaning that it makes all the cells of your body work double time for a few hours. this can cause your cells to fail among other things. so its dangerous because if you happen to have some sort of genetic disorder that makes your mitochondria weaker then you could jsut strait up die.

in a nutshell

venom can be addictive as heroine and deadly as cyanide.

hope that helps you understand.
a lot of bad side effects and no good results maybe a lot of throwing up no difference in your body

Is it better to exercise every other day rather than everday?

A friend of mine told me that it is better to exercise every other day or every couple of days, rather than doing it everyday. Is he right?
Answers: Quick and easy young Lady. What happens is after you exercise your muscles need time to heal if they are torn. When you pump iron they get out of wack and need a one to heal. What I do is exercise different parts of my body every other day.

Doing this will allow you to exercise everyday, not putting too much stress on your body and exercise different parts of your body,, but giving them a day to regroup and heal it need be.

Figure out which areas you want ot group together and how many reps, then do that, the next day do the other areas you want to work on.

Say your neck back and chest, next day waist, thighs and legs. There are a ton of different jprograms on the net you can use. Your friend is right if you use the same areas each day, they need rest also, but if you do different areas, then you can burn calories and get a good cardio workout everyday.

If you have the workout channel watch it and you can watch PBS as they have some programs. Anyway be careful and have fun. Take care.
Or you could do upper body one day, the do lower body, take a day rest, then do it again.

But yes, getting a rest day is advisable.
yes!! of course, you need to rest at least 2 days per week

I heard weight lifting can effect womens fertility ...is this true?

i m 28. married for 2 yrs. no baby. i heared tht from some women tht weight lifting can be bad for me. i m confused....how much weight is ok for me?
Answers: Hi.
It depends on the amount. How often are you training and for how long each session? If you are overdoing yourself it may very well have an affect. Overtraining is a serious condition but I don´t know from you question if it is affecting you. Check this out: http://www.physsportsmed.com/issues/2001...
If you body fat % drops below 10-12% or something like that you will stop menstrating.
If you are trying to have a baby the best way is to have you and your husband checked out. I am sure the doctor will also be able to give you more info on how much you can and should train.
Take care :-)
I've also heard that young gymnasts do not go through puberty until very late, because they have too much muscle and not enough fat.

Our culture does not have a healthy attitude towards healthy and normal amounts of fat.

Women tend to hang on to fat cells more easily than men, and I think this is because if a woman gets pregnant, she needs extra stores of fats to help feed the baby if famine strikes. (Simple evolutionary biology). So if you have a lot of muscle, your body may not have enough fats to believe that it could provide for a child.

I think also that female body-builders stop menstruating. Try googling information about female body builders, I'm sure there are some sites that discuss female fertility and muscle mass.

Weight lifting- many reps with lighter weights is better than fewer reps with heavier weights.
It's to do with the level of body fat. A lot of female weight lifterse keep their body fat percentage very low and this can affect their fertility.

Help! im 134 lbs and im almost 13 (2 months smaller) and i get exercise at school 20 min./day and i eat?

a lot of candy (i will stop as soon as i make a plan i swear) so can anyone help me make a plan for everyday?? oh and i eat lunch at school 7th period (12:05 PM - 12:30 PM) so wat should i eat for dinner? and breakfast? and wat exercise should i add?? pls help!! i need to fall bout 20-30 lbs!
Answers: If you are around 5' tall or taller, you don't need to lose weight. Your BMI would be ok for your age. If you want to lose weight, just get more exercise and avoid the candy and sugars. You'll be fine.

Why are you stressed about losing weight? You are fine.
You can fine tune it if you want but don't go overboard.

Good luck.
LOW FAT , MODERATE PROTEIN and LOW GI CARBOHYDRATE

BREAKFAST:

A bowl of good wholegrain cereal ( 1 metric cup)

Add skim milk ( Skinny , Physical No Fat , Tone , etc)

MORNING TEA: 1 serve of fruit

LUNCH: 2 slices of wholegrain bread or a wholegrain roll

Add - one protein food such as :

- skinless chicken ( 80g)

- tuna or salmon tinned in water (100g)

- an egg (max 2 per week)

- baked beans / legumes - ½ cup

Add - as much salad or vegetables as desired ( not high GI)

Either make yourself a sandwich or have bread x 2 + protein food + salad / vegetables in any form you like.

AFTERNOON TEA: 200grams of low fat yoghurt + 1 fruit

DINNER: Divide your plate into three sections:

One section - include as many vegetables / salad as desired (not high GI)

One section - add small serve of pasta , or low /mod GI rice or sweet potato

- pasta & rice is approximately ½ cup once cooked

One section -One protein food:

- skinless chicken (100g)

- fresh or tinned fish (150g)

- an egg dish ( max 2 per week)

- lentils / legumes - ½ cup

Dinner = vegetables/salad + starchy food + protein
For breakfast get lots of vitamins but keep it short- don't starve yourself either because you want lots of energy for the day. Maybe a glass of milk or orange juice with toast/pancake/etc. For lunch, maybe a sandwich or something. Stay off the oil and butter. Eat protein like meat, but don't eat beef fat, etc. Don't eat deep fried stuff either- go for stir fried or pan made, etc. Keep drinking lots of water. For dinner, stay light- a salad (don't add too much dressing or sauce) or your choice.
Consider something like this because it has always worked for me! :-) Good Luck

How much weight would I lose?

If i were to consume 300 calories a day for a week? And how much of it would be fat, not just muscle and water
Answers: At 120 pounds, you need to consume approx. 1200 calories per day to just maintain your body weight. Eating drastically less than that will cause your body to fail.

Based on your other questions from the past couple of months, your body is in a severe food deprivation mode. It is trying to keep all the weight it can. You are losing muscle mass instead of fat. Lose muscle mass, lose your body balance. Your body will fail.

You need help, please seek some professional help.

To answer your question, you can't lose weight at that rate.

A pound of fat is roughly equal to 3500 calories. You need to eat 3500 calories to lose a pound.

With what you eat, this is not possible. You, quite simply, will starve to death.

Is it true you should only lift every other day?

I lift every day except friday right now and my friend told me I'm not giving my muscle time to build up. Is this true?
Answers: In general yes. if you're working out the same muscle groups a mon, wed, fri schedule will be better than 4 days straight.
You lift one day it tears your muscle fibers. You need a day for the tears to heal, the muscles need to rebuild. If you don't take a day off in between your muscles never have a chance to heal, so they never get a chance to grow like you want them to.

You also shouldn't max out often, maybe once a month if that. Just do pyramids increasing little by little weekly, reps reps and more reps no more than you are comfortable lifting for 5 reps. You'll be surprised how your max increases monthly.

Am i fat...?

am i fat? if i am 15 yrs. old and 5'2 and weigh 95? cuz i think i am..
Answers: no, lol. stop asking. look up bmi on the internet and it will tell you if you are fat.

Does the diet Pepsi which is zero calories has benefits in weight control?

Answers: It should have benifits in weight control, but i have read some where that it contains aspartame, which can cause serious side effects.

This is what i got from the net "When the temperature of this sweetener exceeds 86 degrees F, the wood alcohol in ASPARTAME converts to Formaldehyde and then to formic acid, which in turn causes metabolic acidosis. (Formic acid is the poison found in the sting of fire ants.)"

It also contains caffeine which can make you addicted to diet pop
No because it blows your stomach up.

Exercise? why bother?

why do i even bother try?

now that high school is over, and since i am still slim anyway, I'm beginning to wonder why i even bother try. Everything seems to be going against me for this.
I spend so many hours at college, when a reach home its night.
When i get up in the morning I I've gotta make sure my parents don't see me or they will say:
you're lifting too much;
its too cold;
you can't run on concrete. And keep on nagging till I stop. Therefore I can never develop a constant routine.
you should play basketball instead (ya right, when?!)

since i left high school i've resorted to using cement blocks (from when we were fixing the house) and an old metal mopstick. But my parents are so impossible, they want me to grow up to be strong ,yet, they always find something against me exercising.
Answers: I know what you mean about time, I go to school fool time and I'm a single parent of a teenage daughter. The only time I have to exercise is right after my classes. I go to the gym right at my school before going home. Most schools have a gym look into it. Last semester I had a long break between classes twice a week and was able to fit in a routine then. There are lots of ways to fit in exercise if you really want to workout.

As for why bother. You may be slim now but age has a way of creeping up on you. It is best to develope healthy habits now then to wait till your way out of shape.

If your parents make any remarks about it, remind them of the old saying, "A healthy body promotes a healthy mind." Its hard to have one without the other.
meh... excercise...
i know i wouldnt bother :P
eat healthy enough
take the stairs instead of the lift
etc etc
that does me fine
Looks like you're not determined to grow. I go to university, have a full time job, and you're damn right I find some time to go to the gym. How? It's only 20 minutes, 3 times a week. I am sure you can find an hour of free time total in a week.

Most people spend that much time a day scratching their asses.

Edit: One of the main reasons fat in your body is so dangerous is because of where in the body it is. The fat is dangerous when it's close to your heart, arteries, etc. Even though you're skinny, you still have fat, and most likely it's next to your heart and arteries. To get rid of this fat, you'll have to work out. Don't believe me? Take a CAT scan and see that fat.
that happens to me too, i have no time. but i dont live with my parents though.

I want to lose weight but I have no motivation--- will you help me find some?

I've gained so much weight over the past few years (25-30 lbs) and I really feel horrible about it. My stomach feels fat and I think just feeling the extra fat in my chin/neck area is the worst.

I really have no motivation. I tell myself that I'm going to workout at the rec center on campus but I never end up going because I come up with excuses...I'm too tied, have too much to do, etc. I buy healthy fruits and veggies at the store but end up wasting them.

I've never felt this fat and disgusting in my life and I'm ready to change. Where can I find the motivation to exercise and eat healthfully? I'm not going to lie- I've gained this weight by sitting on my butt and eating junk food every day. It's going to be hard. Help!!
Answers: They all go hand in hand. Once you start eating healthy - you get energy to exercise and be active

Or

Once you start exercising - your body will crave healthy foods

Start by drinking plenty of water

Good luck - have confidence - start loving yourself and you will be suprised what happens!!
Motivation is the hardest thing to keep up. Just take a look at the people in any mall. The majority, not the minority are very overweight. This is due to both eating junk food and not getting any exercise.

More so however, is the lack of exercise that will get you feeling the way that you do and it's perfectly normal.

You will find that if you do start an exercise program, eating better foods will naturally begin since you don't want to waste your exercise time by eating a box of cookies.

If you go to the page listed below and scroll pretty fat down the page you will see a section that says "101 Ways To Motivate Yourself & Get In Shape" if you click on the link you will be brought to a page which lists all the tips (don't worry you don't need to put in your email address or anything) then you can print the page out and highlight the ones that appeal to you. Since we are all different there are tones of different motivators. Then hang your list by the refrigerator. If you have any pictures of bodies that you like hang them inside the refrigerator or inside your pantry where there may be snack food. Also write your "why you want to look like that" right on the pictures. This will give you a constant reminder.

Once you find a motivator that fits you, you will find that it will be a lot easier to stick with a plan.

Good Luck!
Finding a training buddy is the best way to stick with it.

If you are on campus, put up an ad for training partner, interview them to make sure you are compatible and have the same goals etc...

You will be surprised as to how many responses you will get and how many people will feel the same way.

Don't get down on yourself, you are not alone.

Take pictures of you and your partner when you start. Take thigh, arm and waist measurements to track and show progress. This is very important.

I usually skip the scale, because muscle weighs more than fat and the scale can be very deceiving.

I also suggest chipping in for a few sessions with a personal trainer to get you started in the right direction.

Many trainers would love to train two people at a time, because they tend to have more committment with people who have buddies.

Have a nice day.

Jose

Forget the fads, honey. What you need is a 4-pronged approach.
1. Visualise: get a crystal clear picture of what you want. How much weight do you want to lose? When you've reached your goal, how it will look? How it will feel? How will your life have changed? What will you be wearing? Picture yourself next summer. You've lost the weight. You're in that little dress/swimsuit and heading to the beach; you look gorgeous and you feel fit and confident. Now think how you'll feel if you don't lose the weight ... Get those mental images happening and call them into your mind every time you reach for the wrong food.
2.Get organised: you're on the right track with the fruit and veggies. Make a big pot of veggie soup to snack on when you're hungry. Something hot and tasty is more likely to fulfil you than an apple. Be realistic with meals - if you have just a salad or veggies for dinner you'll be starving an hour later and reaching for the corn chips, so have a decent meal but watch your portion sizes.
3.Know your pitfalls: if you know when you're most likely to eat the wrong foods you can control it. Most people feel the urge to snack in the evening while watching TV. Sound familiar? OK, so you have to keep your hands busy. Give yourself a manicure, do the ironing while you watch TV, do a jigsaw puzzle, whatever it takes to keeps your hands busy & your thoughts distracted from food.
4.Accountability: find someone to be accountable to. Join a gym & organise regular re-assessments. Make a pact with your instructor that each time she re-assesses you, you will have lost X-number of kilos. Weight watchers is another option where you have to be accountable.
Good luck! Let me know how it goes
