I'm currently 5'10'' which is pretty tall for me (I'm 14), but I also weigh 215lbs, and have a bigger bone structure. I was just wondering, what would my proper weight be? What type of goal should I set? (I am also considering seeing a nutritionist since I have a physical in two weeks.)

Answers: Ya know some of the best exercises are the ones that utilize your own body weight...It is possible to get a good workout without a lot of fitness equipment...Exercises such as pushups, the "plank", sit-ups, crunches, hip extensions, side lying leg lifts, tricep dips, and oblique twists are all great forms of bodyweight, core moves that can be done anywhere, without needing any equipment.

Castor Oil Cleanse?

Does anyone knows how to do a castor oil cleanse? I wanted to do a castor oil cleanse to clean my system & get rid of toxins in my body. Does the cleanse help with losing weight as well? Losing water weight & fat stored in your body, does it make sense? Thanks in advanced for all replies.
Answers: Cleansing diets are all fads, and none of them are necessary.
Your body cleanses itself daily, so you don't need to do anything special for it.

That said, using Castor Oil as a cleanse is NOT recommended. I had to take Castor Oil before a medical procedure, and please trust me when I say you don't want any part of it. It is among the least fun things I have ever done.

Imagine the feeling of a white hot knife stuck in your gut. Now compound that with periodic, oily, painful diarrhea that lasts for many, many, many hours. That's what it feels like to take Castor Oil.

It sure cleaned out my system (think Drain-O), but I did not lose weight, and I certainly did not feel any better.

First, let me say: YUCK!!!

Okay, I got that out of my system (no pun intended)! ;)

Seriously, though, while the occasional use of any bowel cleanser might be considered "healthy", regular use is certainly NOT considered a healthy part of any diet, as it could cause your system to become dependent on it, the results of which will be far worse than anything it might (and definitely won't!) cure. Castor oil can also cause vomiting, which, unless you're trying to injure yourself, is not the way most people would want to detoxify or lose weight.

Since you didn't indicate that you have any health problems - - other than that you might consider yourself to be overweight, which, in and of itself, may be more an image problem than a medical one - - I will assume that you are a relatively healthy person.

It is far better to drink plain, ordinary water to detoxify your system.

You should not do anything that might affect your system without consulting a doctor (a diet center is NOT an acceptable medical substitute).

I need to lose 15 pounds by june?


Answers: Walk every day, and eat healthy....no junk.
That is very little weight to lose between now and June, and that's a great thing.

This way you can not only lose it slowly (and not have to worry about saggy skin) but you can do so by just changing a few small habits.

Try changing 1 habit a month but be sure to keep up with your new habit as long as you can ( hopefully forever).

Plan out your next few months and try to decide what to change.
Here are a few suggestions but you can add more or make an entirely new list of your own. The say that when you do something for 60 days it sticks with you, so once you get going it will get easier although each change adds on to the last one.

If you are using whole fat dairy products, move down to 2%. If you are at 2% change to 1%, and if you are at 1% switch over to skim milk. Although you can go straight from whole fat to skim, you won't like the change but if you slowly move down then you'll hardly notice the difference. Now if you are drinking whole fat dairy you should make your way down in 1 month.

Switch from white flour breads to 100% whole grain or 100% whole wheat. Mixed grains don't count, it has to say 100% on the label.

Eat 1 extra piece of fruit a day.
Try new types of raw veggies until you find 3 new ones that you like and have them for occasional snacks.

If you currently pig out on cookies or chips. Only purchase the 100 calorie snack packs and limit yourself to 1 per day.

Add 20 minutes of exercise, 3 times a week (this is often good as your first change as the more you exercise the les you'll want to eat junk food).

Give up suggary cereals and pop tarts for whole grain cereal and oatmeal (plain - no flavored oatmeal)

Dump the soda and energy drinks. If you drink a lot now change to sugar free, then in 2 weeks stop all soda and energy drinks.

I think that you get the idea. You will probably find dozens more that you can add in. But if you make just 1 new simple change a month, you will see great rewards.

Okay...Here we go!

This is my theory and this is what works for me. Everyone is different so it may need to be adjusted to your own personal needs.

Energy In/Energy Out

Food Intake: 1,200 Per Day

One Pound equals 3,500 Calories

To loose one pound per day, You need to burn your food intake plus your one pound of fat

1,200 (intake) + 3,500 (Outtake) = 4,700 Calories Burn

You must burn at least 4,700 Calories everyday to loose one pound atleast. It is very easy to go up and beyond 4,700 calories each day.

Best way to do this is to track your progress on a calorie counter monitor watch. If you do it by the numbers you can loose the weight. It is just a matter of changing the way you think about weight loss.

Once you start wearing your calorie counter you can see the numbers increase and you fill find yourself doing extra things in your day, like tapping your foot while witing at the light in your car, chewing gum, singing outloud and so on ontop of your workout routines. You begin to see that everything you do in your day contributes to the overall numbers needed to loose that pound.

I myself have done this recently. Two weeks later, I lost one pant size and 10 pounds.

I personally burn 1,000 calories by Walking in my community for one hour in the morning and I also burn 1,000 calories by simply playing xbox while playing tetrus. I get so involved in playing xbox that I completely forget I am pedaling or working out. Think about it..How many hours have you spent playing video games..why not burn calories while you are doing it.

Water Intake/Less Storage

Most people do not get enough water in their system. Water is your body's principal chemical component, comprising, on average, 60 percent of your weight. Every system in your body depends on water. For example, water flushes toxins out of vital organs, carries nutrients to your cells and provides a moist environment for ear, nose and throat tissues.

Lack of water can lead to dehydration, a condition that occurs when you don't have enough water in your body to carry out normal functions. To determine if you are getting enough water use this simple formula.. Take your weight, for example 150 pounds and divide by 2. Take your answer which is 75 lbs and change it to ounces, in this case 75 ounces. That is how many ounces of water you need a day. Your body performs mostly on water. If you make sure you get enough water everyday your body will perform at top notch and your body will no longer have the cravings of junk food. You will have a better performing body system to help you work out and feel better thru out your day.

Good Food

My favorite things to eat:

Avacado Wraps

Simple: Low Carb Tortilla, Half Avacdo sliced, alpha sprouts, lettuce, soy bacon...Just wrap it up and eat. You can vary the things you put inside so long as you keep it to approx 4 or 5 items. You want to make sure they are fresh, low calorie and filling. Avacado and mushrooms can replace meats in your meal and still have great taste.

Special K Cereals are fantastic. They have that sweetness that one craves and is so good for you. Calories are low. Great for even just dinner.

First thing in the morning...A Glass of Chocolate Milk. Yup!! Chocolate Milk. We all crave that "got to have" item in the morning. Milk is the best thing you can have for yourself while working out. The chocolate (and you can use Carnation Instant Milk for this but I simply use Nestle dry mix) will give you that sweet "snack" that you need. If you give your body a little bit of it and its in a control way, you will not crave sweets and junk the rest of the day.

Lean Cusines

Fantastic food! Each meal is approx 180 t0 380 calories per box. So think about your calories. 1,200...You can still have several of these meals a day and still be under your intake requirements.

Its all amout the numbers and watching what you take in and what you burn out. And you know what..if you go over your 1,200 mark for food intake...thats okay...you simple up your total calories burned for the day by what you took it. So long as you burn off the over all calories to be more than your food intake. Just make sure you stick too it so you can reach your weight loss goals.

Banana's are my favorite. They are very filling and can make a meal all on their own.

Vitamins

My favorite is ONE A DAY WITH ENERGY...I am in love with this vitamin because I am just like everyone else who loves those quick fix energy drinks. But what people do not realise is that energy drinks can contain 120 to 440 calories in just ONE Can. If you think about it..That is HALF of your allowed calories for food intake. The best alternative I have found is One a day with energy vitamin. Easy to spot, it is packaged in a green label bottle. Just One vitamin a day will give you as much energy as approx. 1 1/2 cans of red bull...WITHOUT the calorie intake.
WoW..now your making progress already because you have made more room in your intake calories for actual healthy food.

Soda/Carbination

Carbination is terrible for your system because it bloats your stomach. And when your stomach bloats, your jeans just don't fit. You can drop one pant size simply by NOT drinking any carbinated drinks all together..Take away the bloat and you have instantly just made it one pant size lower. Besides, Sodas dehydrate you and with that One a Day Vitamin, you won't need the Caffenie in the soda and it will also cut out those extra calories that you don't need.
So remove that soda and the energy drinks and just think how much calories you just instantly removed from your daily intake. I normally consume what...four sodas and two energy drinks in one day...that is a total of .... 900 calories..Of what? Nothing...Those are horrible calories and calories that can be replaced by food which will fuel your body for your day and your workouts.

Your Body

Your body is like a computer. You must program your body to do what it is suppose to do so it won't crash and leave you with a virus. Your stomach is only the size of your fist. So think about it right now, Look at your hand and close your fist. Not very big is it. That is how much food you actually ONLY need to eat, each time you eat for every meal. If you eat anything more than that, you will stretch out your stomach which causes overeating and overweight.

What you need to do is eat every three hours, approx 5 to 7 times everyday around the same time. If you are always giving your body healthy and better food choices (the size of your fist) every three hours, your body will know you are giving it food. It will use that food properly. It will not go into starvation mode or store food away for later because it knows...it will get more in three hours. So what does your body do...it flushes everything out of your system because it doesn't need it.. I Now knows...you wont' forget about it and that food is on its way.

Walking Buddy

This is the best thing especially for woman. Get a walking buddy. One hour everyday. Just think about how much talking, venting and laughing two woman can do together while walking and yup, you guessed it...it just burns more calories and reduces your stress. You now are more relaxed because you can talk and free yourself of whatever is frustrating you while getting into shape.

Am i getting fat?

ok well yesterday my waist was 29 inches but today my waist is 34 inches ......how is that possible? i didn't eat much but idk wats up with my bosy and i look like a baloon! my fat jiggles more than my boobs!

Besides 34 inch waist is NOT fat! Relax.
I tried measuring myself to see what my bra size once, and I got that I was a 34D...which I KNOW isn't right. Next time I got 34A, then 36B...I figured I was a 32A and moved on.

So maybe you were measuring lower/higher on your hips.
If you're concered, just exersice everyday.

Can u gain weight if u eat like....?

Answers: Yes. Eating that many calories in a short amount of time can make you gain weight. Your body is very efficient. It takes as many nutrients (fat and carbohydrates included) as it can from everything you eat. The excess calories you don't "burn" during the day will be converted to fat stores for future use. Some of us just naturally carry more fat than others. Blame it on genetics or natural metabolism, etc.
The only safe way to keep that weight gain from being permanent is to stop eating that many calories. An average male should only eat about 2500 calories a day...an average female only needs about 2000-2500. Diet plans like Weight Watchers will give you more calories the more fiber you eat. For instance eating a high calorie fiber cereal is okay because the fiber going through your system actually burns a couple of calories. (Not enough to make a huge difference). There's no magic bullet and there never ever ever EVER will be. Just remember...everything in moderation...even exercise. Too much of a good OR bad thing can hurt you.
5000 in three days?
seeing as a fully grown women is meant to have 2000 per day as part of a healthy diet.. i dont see how you would be gaining any weight..
Intake - How many calories you consume
Outtake - How many calories you burn

Your intake must be relative to your outtake if you plan to maintain your current weight.

If you want to lose weight, increase your outtake/decrease your intake. If you want to gain weight, increase your intake/decrease your outtake.

Unless you're doing any extra exercise or activity, according to your 1065 calorie outtake, if you eat 5000 calories in 3 days, you will gain weight. Not even a pound though.

a pound is 3500 calories by the way.

To keep it from being permanent, exercise - plain and simple. Or else decrease your intake.

Answers: well I am a registered massage therapist and I can tell you it would be excellent to get one before and after, if you get one before be sure to let the therapist know you have a competition that way you can get a more stimulating massage and warm those muscles up, a massage following the competition is good for relaxing the overtired and overworked muscles that have a build up of lactic acid. Some ppl do get sore after a massage in the same way ppl are sore after any exercise, cause massage does exercise the muscles in a sense, but definitely get the massage, try out different therapists till you find one you like, if they are too deep you may be sore afterwards which isn' what you want when you are running but just a massage to get the blood flowing good and release and tension you have beforehand. Goodluck.
There are some variables that need to be considered. Why do you want to get a massage? Are you dealing with current injuries? Is it your first massage? When is your competition? Where are you at in your training: heavy load or tapering?

Generally, yes, massage before competition can be highly beneficial, especially if it is done correctly. If it is your first massage and/or you just want to help relax before competition, then a lighter approach is suggested rather than jaw-wrenching, bone-stripping deep tissue work. Save that for a few weeks down the road (and only if it is deemed necessary). The lighter, relaxing work can be done even the day before competition. If you are dealing with an injury or soreness from heavy workouts, then try to receive the massage 2-3 days prior to the competition. This will allow the lactic acid to flush from your system and healing to take place prior to competition. Then (in the injury situation), additional attention can be given to the injury site briefly the day before or even the day of competition (determined by the professional). If you are interested in beginning work with a massage therapist to enhance athletic competition, then take the time to search for a person either certified or highly trained in sports massage. Most sports massage therapists will advertise this. Buyer beware however, just because sports massage is listed as a service being offered, does not necessarily mean the therapist is trained and experienced appropriately. Your athletic trainer may be able to help however most that I have come across avoid doing extensive massage work because they have not educated and trained themselves well enough.

Hip Hop abs....?

I started hip hop abs today and I cannot seem to get the tilt, tuck, tighten thing down...While I was doing the workout I didnt feel no burn in my stomach...has anyone tried these dvd's? Any advice on how to do this exercise to where you feel the burn?
Answers: ha i have hip hop abs too. i really didnt feel the wokrout that much the first day either but i def felt it the next. if you try total body burn it will def kick your ***. Soemtimes tho if i dont put a 100 percent effort in i feel nothing. so you have to get really really into it.

Answers: You could reduce your overall body fat percentage or build up your obliques so they are less obvious. Cardiovascular exercise such as running and cycling will reduce your bf% and there are many variations of crunches performed on your side or done normally with a twist that will work your obliques.
Lose weight.

A specific exercise, FOR THE BILLIONTH TIME, will not burn fat in one specific area. That's impossible - instead you have to burn fat off everywhere. You do this by working out your whole body. High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) Cardio and weight bearing exercises is what you need to be doing.

While you are doing that you need to eat a better diet - lean meats and dairy, vegetables, a little healthy fat (olive oil and nuts) and almost no complex carbs (pasta, bread and rice).

Do all of the above and you will look better all over and be much healthier.
well, you have to lose weight off of your whole body. so i suggest going to a arobics class or anything like that. but what helps me is the i try to get really mad and irritated befor i go so that you'll work a lot harder, which means you'll burn up more calories. just try to burn more calories than you eat. that is the key goal to getting in shape.

Answers: use this formula to find out your calories:

66+(6.23 * weight in pounds) + (12.7 * height in inches) - (6.8 * age in years)

Then once you figure that out mulitply it by

1.2 (if you are inactive)

1.375 (if you are lightly active)

1.55 (if you are moderatley active)

1.725( if very active)

1.9 (Extra active)

then once you find that out, cut out 500 calories a day and exercise a little then you would lose one pound a week which is very healthy. So in about 40 weeks you would lose 40 pounds, I know that is a long time but hey at least you will diet in a healthy way.

Go swimming anyway, its probably the fastest way to loose the kilos. And you cant be too fat to swim, thats just an excuse. if you are worried about what people will think, wear a t shirt as well as your swimmers.
At some point, you will need to learn to excercise & diet without someone to be with. You may as well bite the bulklet & learn to do it alone. Not going becuase nobody will go with you is also an excuse.
Diet wise, cut out soft drinks & cordial completely, drink only water or milk. It doesnt take much imagination to realise what is appropriate to eat & whats not. But the occaisional pizza wont hurt you either.
