Why is it so hard to exercise for a second hand smoker?
My dad is a smoker. He also smokes at home and often smokes near us ( my mum, sis & me). I tried to exercise but i often get tired and it's very hard for me to catch my breath. So my question is, why is so hard for me to do exercise & what kind of exercise can i do?Answers: smoking causes the amount of carbon monoxide(the same stuff that can come out of cars) in the blood stream to increase, carbon monoxide binds to hemoglobin more strongly then oxygen, this inhibits the bodys aerobic systems and this is why you are finding it dificult to start exersizing.
unfortunately you will still find it hard to exersize even after you have trained for a few weeks. you could ask your dad to go outside when he smokes but other then that you should just avoid breathing in second hand smoke. if you do manage to avoin second hand smoke you should find it alot easeyer in a week or 2.
smoking also causes other problems but that should be the main resion.
Its unlikely your dad's smoking does have anything to do with it.
Smoking only begins to affect your lungs after several years or even more than a decade in terms of noticably reducing your lung capacity and breaking down alveoli.
In all liklihood, you are just unfit and need to work your way up to a good fitness level.
But if I were you, I would nag my dad everyday. I did with my mum and she cut down drastically!
I need more enrgy ,perhaps a knew diet?
lately I have been finding my self with out motivation to do any thing , I have very little energy to do anyhing, I am always tired and I get sleepy all the time, I need advice on how to keep my energy level up!Answers: i get realy tired in the afternoon sometimes, ive found that if i eat low GI foods such as granny breads or drinking a glass of milk(also low GI) i feel less tired throughout the day.
It sounds like you eat a lot of particularly refined carbohydrates and sugars- pasta, bread etc.
I would cut out most of the carbs from my diet, especially the refined ones ("white" carbohydrates like white bread, white pasta, white rice) and after a short while you will definitely notice increased energy levels as your blood sugar levels will be more stable.

Broccoli, is one of my favorites. What is very important is to properly cook it, (when not eating it raw) which basically means lightly steamed.
I pair it with brown rice (and a bit of chili paste).
It is good with other cooked vegies such as carrots and cauliflower.
It is excellent in cheese and rice casseroles.
You may also want to have a reduced calorie/fat ranch and not use as much. That way you can still enjoy it in your usual manner.
I usually just drizzle with olive oil. It's plain, but the oil is heart healthy.
I'm scared of getting fat...?
I'm thin, and I've always been thin, except I eat a lot of cookies and chocolate, and stuff like that ...I excercise everyday though (at least 2 hours in the swimming pool, every single day) so will that keep the wieght off?

no u will not get fat but ur metabolism will start to slow down...it depends on ur genes when it slows down though...it could be when ur 20 or it could be when ur 40ish
the excercise u do is BLOODY EXCELLENT 2 hours a day is good but don't push urself....if you can handle that kind of excercise then great keep goign with it :)
now the junk food that u eat won't make u get fat because of the excercise u do and coz its pretty hard to go from thin to fat quick ahah unless u ate like 20 donuts everyday...don't do it O.O lol
but the food that u eat isn't very respectful to ur body if u knwo what i mean...like u won't get fat but it's just better for ur insides if you eat a bit healthier and try to limit the junk :)

Growing taller?
hey, i'm 15 and my height is 5'2", i know, i'm short for my age, and i blame me, anyway, do you guys know any natural way for me to grow at least two inches taller since i'm slowly not growing anymore..i don't eat alot because i come from a family where when you eat you get fat fast, so i trained to control myself not to get to too chubby, and now my height is paying for it, please help me. I'm the eldest and both my siblings are going to grow taller than me, i think it would really be embrassing for the eldest to be the shortest...please and thanks in advance..=D
Answers: Unless you've done activities in your past (or even now) that tend to stunt your growth, like gymnastics, or if you've basically been starving yourself or eating nothing but "junk food" since you were very young, you haven't done anything at all to prohibit yourself from growing.
Height is all in your genetics. Unfortunately, there isn't anything avaliable to help that out. You will be happy to know, though, that I had a couple girl friends back in high school who actually had growth spurts when they were fifteen, sixteen, so don't completely give up on hope yet. But there's not much you can do to actually create a difference in your height. Make sure you're getting plenty calcium, whether from dairy or vitamins, to help build a strong bone mass; it won't necessarily help your height now, but by doing so, you can help offset osteoperosis down the road (which is when your height starts to "shrink"!)
As to the "oldest should be the tallest", HA, I wish someone could have sent my younger brother that memo, because I was taller than him my whole life, until he turned 16 and shot up in height. He's now about 3 inches taller than me. So don't feel bad if your younger sibs are taller than you...don't forget, you're STILL the oldest, and that's really what counts ;)
you need calcium, so drink lots of milk and take calcium supplements.. also, here are some activities that might help.. Yoga, Basketball, Swimming, Bicycling (fast).. some people believe that if you do those exercises on a regular you could gain an inch or two.. at 15 you might not be done growing, so don't give up hope!
if it makes you feel any better, I like short girls a lot more than tall girls.. my wife is 5'8" and I wish she was shorter!
unless you are malnourished the only thing you can do to grow taller is choose your parents.
you might be able to grow alittle taller by increasing testrosone leavles but you dont want to stuff with that unless you want to become the next member of the Chinese womens swimming team.

Answers: I took ballet when I was a kid and we had to do excersizes all the time to learn to do those. LOL they always felt kinda perverted to me but htey work. One is to lay on your back with your legs in a "V" as far as you can go, open and close but hold them a little longer when they are open. Also laying on your belly with you hands folded under your chin and your legs in a "diamond" (knees bent outwarda and heels of feet touching each other) and we were told to do this at least 15 minutes a day a couple days a day (like when watching tv or something). Streching by sitting up in a "v" and touching your toes and standing and holding your toes with your leg straight up as high as you can go works too. If you do all of these, it will gradually strentch those muscles and you will be able to go further eventually. We had to exersize at least an hour a day and hold for at least 10 seconds on each stretch and do each exersize for at least 10 minutes a peice.
Well that's one of those things that you need to be doing the splits often also you are going to need to do groin exercises,

i find going into a deep lunge good as well as doing lots of high kicks. But you also need to stretch your hamstrings too. this can be done by sitting on the floor with both legs infront of you (keeping them straight) and leaning forward. you should stretch everyday but you need to take it gently at first otherwise you will hurt your muscles.
o and remember to warm up and warm down b4 and after any exercise
Has any one been to Curves with results?
I have recently joined my local Curves Gym which has recently opened in my area. Has any one been to Curves and toned up. How long before you noticed the results. I have lost 7 stone over the last 2 yeras and need to tone up so is this good for meAnswers: Curves is no different than any other 'fad' gym with the one size fits all program. Most inexpensive gyms do this.
For many women, curves is a more comfortable environment, and if that is why you chose it, then it is fine. They do have some good programs... switching up your workout is actually the best way to lose weight - and that is big in their program.
I know a few women who went to curves and they definitely toned up, and didn't injure themselves. Personally, I think it is way to lazy people friendly, so if you are susceptible to other people's veering off track, I would not go there. Otherwise, they have good equipment and a decent program. Try it out for a month, and if you are getting results stick with it, if not, try somewhere else.
My mom went to curves and she lost weight. She liked it but i dont know about toning up! My mom looks great now!
As far as the toning...will all depend on the weights you do, what you eat, your commitmnt to it/frequency to working out etc

Diet right, keep the heart rate up, take a good multi-vitiam and some B12 and you should see results from that.
I used to work at one, and yes I have seen people lose weight. I toned up a little while I worked there, but you get out what you put in. You have to push yourself to go a little harder b/c if you just go through the motions it doesn't do much, other then getting you moving which is good if you sedentary. It gets old real fast though and I've seen numerous people quit b/c it gets boring and you body can only take so much.
You will get better results and will last longer if you join a gym with free weights/cardio/machines etc.
