Diet Fitness Questions and Answers
For those of you that excersize I have some questions?
I know people like my spouse who is physically fit and exersizes there are days he does a 30 minute work out and there are days he does a 15 -20 minute workout. I want to learn to like and enjoy excersize there is a gym where I live and there is no reason why I can't. I have heard all sorts of claims about how long to excersize to lose weight but if a person does at least 4-5 times a week working out on the treadmill for 20-25 minutes a good cariovasular workout will that produce good results and a slow and steady weight loss? What are the health benefits for body, mind and soul of excersizing besides gradual wieght loss?
Answers: Body becomes toned, fit, skin clears up (especially with a healthy diet), you have more energy, and as you lose weight, you will be at a lower risk for diseases like diabetes and heart disease. Day to day life becomes less taxing.
The best part in my opinion? Buying smaller clothes!
The mind- endorphins are released, helping you feel happier. Exercise is also a great way to relieve stress. And body consciousness is decreased when you know that you are taking care of yourself. In other words, you feel more comfortable in your skin.
The key to exercise, in my opinion, is to find one you truly enjoy, one you can look forward to. For me, that is either Pilates, Yoga, or TaeBo (all of which I bought tapes for because I hate working out in front of strangers).
20 minutes is a great cardio workout, especially for beginners. I would also recommend a strength training routine a few times a week (building muscle helps burn more calories, even while at rest). Cardio can be done every day, but strength training should be done (at most) every other day, as the muscles need time to rebuild.
Don't let soreness discourage you (as I have done in the past). If you get sore, take a break for a day and get right back to it.
Best of luck.

Questions about eating healthy?
What are good breakfast and lunch choices to have that dont have a lot of sugar, salt or too much fat? Dinner I do well ususally a meat a starch and some green vegetables water NOT soda to drink and once a week we have pasta with a side of green vegetables, there is so much canned and processed and refined and hydrongenated foods what are good heatlhy choices for breakfast and lunch that are filling and what are good snacks to eat?Answers: an egg white omelet (with one yolk max, as it's high in fat) with veggies in it is good. one whole wheat/rye/sprouted toast (dry). yogurt with fresh fruit or dried cranberries/raisins/agave nectar. peanut butter and an apple. fresh fruit juice.
low sodium soups, salad with basic vinagrette (without cream like ranch), chicken breast with big side of steamed veggies, fish, sandwich w/healthy bread. stay away from mayo, ketchup, honey mustard, etc.
An egg with one slice of wholemeal toast is a good breakfast, contrary to popular belief there is no need to take out the yolk.
A low fat, high fibre breakfast cereal is also good and filling, something like AllBran or Special K Sustain. Eaten with skimmed or semi-skimmed milk is best.
For lunch, have you tried soup or sushi? And obviously salad is good with a low fat dressing.

Could someone please give me a list of wheat free/gluten free foods?
I am trying to switch my autistic child's diet to the wheat free/gluten free diet but am having trouble shopping for it.Please help!!
Answers: There is a list of gluten free foods, a list of foods containing gluten and an article about the gluten free casein free diet at www.the-gluten-free-chef.com
Gluten is the protein in wheat whereas casein is the protein in milk and dairy foods. Many parents agree that following this diet is beneficial for their autistic children.
But be sure to give it time to work, up to 3 months is recommended.
If you stick to fresh meat and vegetables, fruit and pulses you won't go far wrong. There are also many alternative grains that you can use instead of the gluten laden wheat, rye and barley. Make it into a challenge rather than a problem and not only will your child benefit but you will enjoy it too.
Steer clear of processed foods, dairy foods such as ice cream, yoghurt, cheese and milk chocolate as well as cutting out the gluten from the diet.
Good luck and I wish you the best for your child.
Go the local organic supermarket or check the organic section of your supermarket.
There should be one in your area.
They have tons of products that are wheat / gluten free.
http://www.personalfitnessforyou.com
Ok, it's great that you are doing this for your child, but you should be aware that many autistic children react badly to dairy as well as gluten. From what I have found out, it is toxins produced by not digesting gluten and casein properly, which then get into the blood stream, that are the probable culprit.
I'm afraid is not possible to definitively state that any processed food item is gluten free, as even if the last pack you bought was, the manufacturer may have had difficulty resourcing the ingredients it used or the price may have gone up, and a substitute may have been included instead. So it is essential for anybody on a "free from" diet of any kind either to stick to products specifically labelled as being free from the substance in question, or to check the labels of every packet in detail every time they buy.
Gluten is found in wheat, rye and barley. There are also often traces in with oats, as the same facilities are used to process in most cases. So anything containing any of these grains or any derivative from them, such as malt, flour, etc. is off the menu. This includes soy sauce, which is made with wheat, unless it's labelled gluten free. Unfortunately, Rice Krispies are flavoured with malt, so they're out, but there are quite a few gluten free cereals available in health stores and online.
Unprocessed meat, fish, fruit and vegetables are fine of course. For snacks, you can try something from the nearest Asian store, where they sell many items made from rice (for the Chinese/Japanese/Korean sector) or chick pea (gram) flour (for the Asian subcontinent). There's also tropical mix, dried fruit like raisins, apricots, and all sorts of uncoated nuts.
If you want a quick and easy way to approach a gluten free diet, think Atkins and then add in rice, corn (maize) and/or potatoes, because you are not trying to avoid carbs as such, it's just that many carbs contain gluten.
You may find this article helpful: http://www.free-easypublications.com/#ar... which is about quick and easy meals without gluten, and this one: http://www.glutenfreedietbook.com/articl... about how to recognise gluten in many different forms.
Hi. I agree autistic children react best to gluten free AND caesin free diet. I suggest this site www.gfcfdiet.com
Also these sites should be helpful in u learning the alternative names for Gluten and how to avoid them.
Also many Gluten Free (GF) foods are often dairy free or the mixes can be easily made dairy free.
Gluten free is always wheat free but wheat free is not always gluten free

I can not seem to stay motivated these days to exercise and eat right...?
I know too well the benefits of eating right and exercise. And because of my body type I know that my routine has to be rigid, and I need to stay focused. However lately I have been off my game, and it’s effecting my waist line. How do you stay motivated, what are some of your diet/exercise tricks, any good advice is welcomed??Answers: About one year ago (Oct. 23) on my 43rd birthday I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. About 2 months later (Dec. 12) I had a heart attack. Those two conditions are my motivation. I just saw my doctor yesterday and was told that I am doing very well now. That comes from a strict diet and exercise program. I try to tell as many people as I can that you need to do these things to avoid going through the same things I have been through. If diabetes and/or heart disease runs in your family that should be your motivation. If I had known then what I know now I would have done everything I could to prevent it from happening to me.
Hang a before picture where you can see it and everyday look at it and remember you are changing for the better.
Get a friend involved so you have someone to stay motivated with.
Try to exercise the same time if possible so it becomes part of your normal daily routine.
Change it up often so it stay new/exciting
Drink water when you get the urge to eat so it gives you a full feeling.
Make sure you reward yourself with a treat now and then and motivate yourself by saying what a good job you are doing.
Recruit a friend or get involved in gym classes that change it up.
Surround yourself with people who are healthy.
Believe it or not bad habits can be contagious especially when it deals with eating.
Fat is contagious.

Losing 6 pounds in a healthy way?
whats the best & healthiest way?Answers: Follow a simple workout routine that you can do everyday at home and eat a sensible diet. Below is a free workout routine.
Aside from cutting out sugary liquids, carbs and exercising the right way, you mean? Try balancing out your meals, make sure you eat three of them and get moving.
They're always the Special K challenge... it actually does work in two weeks.
Cut out white flour products. White flour is not meant for human consumption. A palmful of white bread is basically a palmful of sugar.
Just by doing that you can lose 6 pounds easily. If you want to keep it off, you will need to incorporate health natural eating with regular exercise.
Hope this helps.

You need to do a lot of exercise to equilibrate your calories. It's better if you do cardiovascular exercise, because this kind of exercise helps you to burn a lot of fat...
You should begin with a good eating plan, combining fats and sweets with fruits and vegetables.
If you want you can use some pills to control your weight and to accelerate the process of burning fat.
I know some pills which you can use to reduce your weight. Those pills are Xenical and Hoodia. Their results are excellent and fast.

Do you know how to Motivate yourself?
Answers: yeah i know, just watching people work hard motivates me! : )
well I motivate myseklf thinking about my future, that it can actually be brilliant if I work hard enough and focus in the things that really matter, not wasting my time in things that doesn´t worth it.
Good luck! ;D
One way I motivate myself is by rembering my past. I do what is necessary to at the very least prevent myself from reverting to my old undesirable self.
Another way is to watch others who let themselves deteriorate. The negative consequences resulting from such sloth and girth are more than enough motivation to get one to adopt and maintain a healthy lifestyle.
Motivating runs in cycles for all of us. I believe our energy goes into a cycle of 30 days. We start off feeling o.k., take life as is, then our energy level increases where we can do anything and have an abundance of energy. Then it begins to slow down and we wain to perhaps not feeling well to wanting to take a day off because we need our space or a day to ourselves to rejuvenate. The days we are up, and it usually last about two weeks, I am so motivated, I could do literally anything; other days, I am what I term my normal self. The days I am off, I drink more coffee, list to music that really motivates me,( and we are all different in the music department), and most of all, I truly believe in telling myself I am a good person. I can never receive too many compliments from my soul mate . . . . . he is always giving me lots of good karma!
Peace
money is good starter.
Does an apple a day REALLY keep the doctor away??=S?
I just wanna know...Answers: Lol, not really. Apples are nutritious and provide a lot of water for your system. However, your health depends on a lot more then that.
Umm, I know an orange a day will keep the doctor away! It helps prevent scurvy!! :D I'm not sure if the same vitamins in oranges are the same as in apples. (i don't think their the same)
Also, if your doctor comes and you start throwing apples at him he probablly will keep away.
No, but if you over ate on them you might have to see a doctor then for a stomach ache.
I cut down on my work out, should I encounter problems with weight and physical readiness?
I used to run 4 miles a day and workout for about 1 hour afterwards everyday. But, now I am cutting it back to 3-4 days a week because my knees were hurting. My question is, am I gonna gain too much weight? Will my metabolism slow down? Will I go out of shape?
Answers: I think you were probably working out too much before, which is not healthy for your bones and not good to do unless you are training for a marathon or other event. You will gain weight if you continue eating the same amount, although you will probably feel less hungry so you will end up eating less anyway. And no your metabolism will not slow down more than it would naturally from age. And if you are running 3 times week plus working out for anhour you will definitely stay in good shape.
Definately ease up on the running, working out is fine but all in moderation OK! Do excercises that wont strain your knees tooo much, like abs, some pilates workouts, arms etc. Also take some vitamins for your knees such as Glucosamine and Chondroitin Sulfate
Ok so what advice would you give a girl 2 loose weight?
m8s already tried exercise n gym nothing seems to work??Answers: Strong aerobic exercise and a healthy lower calorie diet, it is much more useful than a gym.
90 percent of losing weight is correct caloric intake with proper nutrition.
Seek the help of a nutritionist, there's much more than exercise to lose weight.
http://www.personalfitnessforyou.com
Make sure you're sensible - don't do things in extremes because not only is it unhealthy but you'll probably find the weight won't stay off.
Get hold of a good diet programme - I'd recommend the GL diet - it's safe and it works - just note that it allows a lot of fats so try to keep it low fat. You'll be eating little and often and banishing those nasty cravings. You'll also find you're not starving yourself. Most supermarkets provide low fat alternatives so use those.
Then make sure you get some exercise but don't go overboard at first. Easy does it here - get down to the gym for half an hour 3 times a week, walk the dog, take the stairs or go swimming.
Take it slow and keep track of your progress. Since you're exercising take body measurements (hips, thighs, waist and bust) and chart those as you might find your size decreases but your weight doesn't. Don't be discouraged by this - it's just that you're getting fitter and banishing flab...
Lastly - stay smiley and positive. Encourage yourself with a small treat occasionally (try a new make-up product or bath soak so your rewards are lovely but not fattening).
Be encouraged - you'll do great :)
Consistancy is the key.
3500 calories equals one pound. So, in order to loose a pound, you have to burn 3500 more calories.
The key is consistancy - you can't just exercise for a week and expect huge results. You have to do it every day or at least every other day.
Keep a food journal. I know it sounds silly - but people have food amnesia - You forget that you ate that extra piece of pizza "because you had been good all week" - It helps you keep track of those calories, and if you know you have to write it down, you are less likely to eat it.
cook your own food.. know what your eating... and drinking...
1 alco pop is a jammy doughnut with icing and sprinkles...
im in a wheelchair, so i cant exactly exercise, but i manage my weight at around 11 stone... by cooking, and not doing stuff to excess... and i eat lots of the wrong things... pasta curry, chilli, chips... and im a biggish bloke, i know how to eat, but, i only scoff if ive been working...excerting myself.. if i havent, then i dont just eat a whole 3course meal for the sake of it... and if i want to snack.. try munching breakfast cereal dry... mmm i love mini shredded wheat and weetabix...
