What is a good home-made protein shake?

Answers: I found this one on About.com and it's really good.. it's called the Hulk Protein shake. Plus, it only adds about 19 calories to your protein shake. If you dont like minty flavors just click on the source link i gave you and look at under the bold print where it says "Related Articles" and they have flavors like Cinnamon and Peanut Butter. One thing i also do is that I just mix bannanas, protein powder, and some milk together and it tastes delicious!

INGREDIENTS:
2 scoops vanilla protein powder
1 ½ tbsp sugar-free pistachio pudding mix
1 mint leaf or a few drops peppermint extract (optional)
a few drops green food coloring (optional)
8 oz. cold water (or low-fat milk)
3-5 ice cubes

PREPARATION:
Add all ingredients to blender, blend, and pour into cup. This tastes great without the mint so don't worry if you don't have it around. The shake is a light green even without the food coloring but if you want it green (like The Hulk!), you'll need a few drops.
I had never had tofu before but this smoothie is amazing.
1 frozen banana
1/2 c. fat free plain or vanilla yogurt
1 c. skim milk
1/4 of a block of light firm tofu
3 T. baking cocoa
3 T. sweetner or sugar (I use splenda)
7-8 regular ice cubes

How can I get a flat belly?

I want to get rid of my fat stomach and my love handles in a month?! Is that possible? How can I do that? I am also looking to lose 20 pounds in about a month in half. How can I do this? Please help. Any suggestions will help. Thank You
Answers: A month is pretty hard to do, unless you are willing to go to the extremes like jockeys. I would exercise those muscles for thirty minutes every day and increase the exercising time slowly. Horseback riding works too, and so does dancing and swimming.
That's pretty hard. it might work if your commited to it everyday. What i do is :

Stretch every part of the body . starting neck and down
15 minute run
water
10 crunches
10 v-snaps
5 sit up
water.
(do this everyday)

Keep a healthy diet and at least twice a week do a physical activity. yoga, any sports, even hit a gym
First of all, since what you're trying to get rid of is fat, it won't do you any good to target that specific area. In other words, if you want to develop your abdominal muscles, do sit-ups...however, doing sit-ups isn't a good choice for losing the fat on your belly.

The best way to efficiently and most effectively burn fat is to get your body into the most thermogenic state possible...and keep it there for awhile. This calls for full-body exercises.

What i have used, and suggested to hundreds of people, is to simply start with a light weight on the ground, and end with the weight above your head as high as you can press it. The "weight" can be a barbell, kettlebell, medicine ball, or anything weighing 10 to 20 pounds or so. The movement of squatting to pick the weight up, curling the weight to your chest, pressing it overhead, bringing the weight back to your chest, and then setting it on the ground again works your WHOLE body, and that's what really burns the fat.

As far as time or duration goes...just do as many reps as you can do in a row, and write that number down. Then rest for 3 minutes and do as many as possible again, and write that number down. This way, the next day when you workout, you can try to beat your "round 1" record, "round 2" record, and so on. The more rounds, the quicker you'll reach your goal. Just keep beating your personal records and you'll be in "record shape" in no time!
Don't push yourself too much on your goal of losing 20 lbs within a month and a half. It's not that simple as you think it may be. But you will surely lose weight if you are really serious about it. You can eat anything but in moderation of course. You've got to have self- discipline if you really want to achieve your goal. A great work out, perfect diet tips and lots of patience can help you gain the lean and slimmer you.

Anyone know of a hypnosis cd to lose weight that works?

Answers: Depending on the CD, I didn't find it to be successful, but I would suggest checking out the National Guild of Hypnotists website www.ngh.net - to find a Certified Consulting Hypnotist in your area.

My daughter is 12 she wants to lose weight how does she go by doing that?

she wants to lose weight and she has been trying to find a great diet for her
Answers: its your responsibility as a parent to ensure that your child is healthy. if she is overweight, that means you need to prepare healthy meals and snacks, get rid of junk food from the house and encourage active family time like walking the dog (if yu have one) or playing sports. at 12 the last thing your daughter should be worrying about is dieting and her weight - that is setting her up for a lifetime of unhealthy self-esteem and relationships with food. reinforce that she is beatiful and doesnt need to be skinny to look good, but that healthy food and excercise will make her healthy and strong.
No matter how you slice it, diet is a dirty word. It smacks of deprivation and hunger pangs. To overcome the pain, you need a plan.

So WebMD asked the experts for advice, and put together their quick tips on how to get your weight lossgoing.

1. Know Your Weight Loss Goals

Consider how much you need to lose before you decide how to do it, recommends Brian C. Jacobson, MD, MPH, assistant professor of medicine and a gastroenterologist at Boston University Medical Center in Massachusetts.

Very overweight or obese. "For someone obese, I refer them to our weight loss center," says Jacobson, who says people with a lot of weight to lose can probably benefit from a structured, supervised program.

If you're slightly or moderately overweight. "I advise controlling portion size," Jacobson says. "If you control portion size, you cut calories."

To learn correct portion sizes, consult a registered dietitian or take a look at the new food pyramid at MyPyramid.gov.

Exercise also has to be part of your plan, Jacobson tells the do-it-yourselfers. But that doesn't necessarily mean joining a gym. "Buy a cheap treadmill," he says, and when you're watching TV, hop on and take a walk.

Before starting a new exercise regime or weight loss plan, however, remember to talk with your doctor.

2. Understand Your Weight Loss Personality

Personality plays a role in our attitude towards food, says Thomas R. Przybeck, PhD, assistant professor of psychiatry at Washington University School of Medicine, St. Louis, who has published on the topic of diet and personality. Know your tendencies and tailor your plan to conquer the unproductive inclinations.

Impulsive. "If you have a tendency to be impulsive, you might see a pint of Ben & Jerry's in the freezer and go for it," Przybeck says. Clearly you are a dieter who needs to remove those temptations.

Oblivious. If you tend to not pay attention when you eat -- maybe you're a TV snacker? -- you need to avoid such situations if you want to control portions.

Uptight. "If you are highly anxious, you will probably have more difficulty," Przybeck says. "Those who are anxious, nervous, and depressed might eat to feel better."

Tenacious. Certain personalities don't find it that difficult losing weight. "If you are highly self-directed, cooperative, and have a lot of stick-to-it-ive-ness, you are going to have an easier time," Przybeck says.

Sociable. You tend to monitor your food intake better than others, Przybeck found.

3. Double Up: Diet & Exercise

When her heartburn patients ask which should come first, diet or exercise, Lauren Gerson, MD, MSc, director of the Esophageal and Small Bowel Disorders Center at Stanford University School of Medicine in California, says: jump in and do both.

"It's a combination of diet and exercise [that will lead to weight loss]," she says.

4. Make a Firm Weight Loss Commitment

To be successful, it helps to understand why you want to lose weight. So before you begin a weight loss plan, ask yourself:

* Am I ready to do this?
* Is my motivation coming from within?
* Can I deal with occasional setbacks or lack of progress?
* Can I focus on weight loss fully? (If you're in the midst of a job change or other distractions, for example, it might be better to resolve those issues, and then focus on weight loss efforts.)

Finally, be sure you're committed to losing weight for yourself -- not because someone else is pressuring you to do so.

Then, take things slowly, keep these tips in mind, and you should be on the road to weight loss in no time.

How do u lose weight fast without buying any cheap medicines?

Answers: the only way to loose weight is to burn more calories than you take in.

this means two options: control what you eat, more activity

here's a few things that you can try.

Control what you eat:

Keep a journal, write down everything that you put in your mouth, food, water, juice, everything. Also (something that helped me) write down how you feel in the following hours after you eat the food, this is how i learned that certain foods that i loved actually gave me headaches, or gassy. This way in about a week you can see EXACTLY what you are eating.

Find alternatives. Most people can't quit cold turkey, so find healthier things that you can eat that will satisfy. instead of cold stone, try frozen yogurt.

Dont eat dinner infront of the TV. they have found that people that eat dinner infront of the television eat 20% more than those who don't. so sit at the table and eat (if your by yourself turn on the radio, or read a book while you eat).

Eat more :) - Usually we tend to go for the sweet stuff because our blood sugar is low... we grab the sugar, our blood sugar spikes, and then crashes lower than where we started. the problem is this is a revolving door. so try to eat smaller portions with more frequency. i.e. every 2-3 hours.

MODERATION, it's ok to cheat every once in a while, just dont go overboard, have in your mind a limit before you start. i.e. instead of getting the super large size, get the small size.

Dont beat yourself up over it, it's an up hill battle and as long as you are going in the right direction, you'll get where you want to be.

More activity:

More activity means that you burn more calories.

START SLOW.

Most people think exercise, think the gym... this isn't the only activity, a simple walk around the block each day can increase activity.

Make sure that you do something to move around atleast 30 to an hour everyday. as you start to get used to it and more comforatable increase the activity (if your walking around the block try jogging around the block.)

If your going to go to the gym and you dont know what your doing, start out with a personal trainer, this way you have a good starting point.

Turn off the tv. instead of spending hours infront of the t.v. do something that will get you moving.

look into resistance exercise, this is a two fold because your burning calories and increasing muscle, the more muscle the higher your metabolism (this means you burn more calories even while your resting!). again start slow.

Make sure that what you choose to do for exercise/activity is something that YOU enjoy... this will make you more likely to stick with it.
Little Tricks To Help You Lose Weight Fast

Yeah we all know that we are supposed to cut calories, do cardio and hit the gym to get in shape, but there are lots of little tricks you shouldn't ignore if you want to slim down quick.

Take The Stairs Taking the stairs instead of the elevator every day can help you burn some extra calories. It may not seem like a lot but it adds up. Over a period of a year, taking the stairs can burn off an extra five lbs. of fat.

Snack on Pickles Pickles are delicious and they have only 1 calorie each!

Drink H20 Before You Eat Drinking water before you eat will fill you up so you don't eat as much. Try to down 2 glasses of water 10 minutes before each meal. You'll notice that you can't down that entire pizza if you do, and you definitely will skip deser.

Skip The Soda If you do nothing else, at least skip the soda for 1 meal a day. This can save you up to 3,000 calories per week!

Don't Shop Hungry When you are about to go to the supermarket to pick up food for the week, make sure you eat a big meal before you go. You'll notice that suddenly all of those junky foods won't have the same appeal and you'll be more likely to make wiser decisions.

Don't Be Fooled By The Fat Free Phenomenon Skip the fat free frozen yogurt and other sweets that are loaded with sugar. Very often these fat free sweets are filled with sugar to make up for the taste they lose with the fat.

Put Up Photos Put up some photos on your refrigerator of how you want to look and/or pics of you when you were in great shape. This will help motivate you to resist every time you feel like reaching for that gallon of ice cream. You can also put a pic of you when you looked really out of shape to show you how you DON'T want to look. This can be even more motivating.

Eat Slowly It takes a while for the brain to register that it's full. If you eat slow enough you'll give your body time to notify the brain that you've had enough and you'll eat less because you'll feel full

Don't Eat With Fat Friends Yeah, we know Joey's been your friend since the first grade but that doesn't mean you have to go eat with him. Getting into the eating pattern of fatter friends can be a quick road to destruction.

Don't Eat Everything On Your Plate Americans have the habit of finishing everything on their plate even when they are full. It probably stems from our mom telling us that we need to finish everything because there are starving kids in Ethiopia that would do anything for our food. Forget about all of this guilt. Your mom will be much happier when you eat less and live much longer to take care of her when she's old.
