Exercises to help strengthen muscles to improve posture?
what muscle groups and specific exercises might be useful to swing my pelvis/hips forward ... from looking in the mirror this seems like a significant improvement over my current posture. (not that things have to go too far ... but my upper body does look a bit out of line with my lower body, i.e. leaning forward with a bit too much of a bend in my lower back)by just swining my hips forward, it makes my body more straight, bringin my legs directly under my upper body ... and makes my butt stick a lot less. there is less curviature in my lower back.
I am pretty fit otherwise but i figure a big part of poor is just that some muscle groups which I have not paid any attention to need to be worked on. I already do push-ups and sit-ups regularly. Can anybody recommend any specific exercise(s) that might help this posture problem? I don't have a gym membership at the moment (sucks, I know) so body weight or simple reistance exercies would be most convenient ... thanks!!
Answers: Try pelvic tilts. Lay on your back with your legs bent out in front of you like you would do sit ups. Rotate your hips up and out, careful not to move your legs. This should improve posture within a couple of weeks.
I'm trying to lose weight too and it's sooo hard. My aunt is using a weight loss product and it's really working for her. I'm gonna try it and I recommend you try it too. Check their website at
http://www.easy-slim.us , my aunt got a free trial and paid only $6.95 shipping and handling.
Usually the upper body will "pitch" itself forward and the lower back with arch if the hip flexors are too tight. The hip flexors are those muscles in the front of the pelvis. I would suggest getting on one knee, and leaning forward until the back hip gets a stretch. Hold for a minute. It's hard to describe so let me know if that doesn't make sense.
My knees go out and Iook fat.. how to lose weight in them?
Answers: Get off your *** and walk around. It's not rocket science.

I am tired of being FAT!?
im 20 and have a 2 1/2 year old son.before i got preg. i wore a size 3 and was 115 lbs
almost weighed 200 before haveing him
then after i got back down to a size 5 130 lbs
but now i keep gaining and gaining weight
i weigh 170 lbs and wear a size 13
i feel HUGE to what i used to be and i know your body isnt the same after you have a child but even if i cut back what im eating the weight still goes up!! i need a solution besides diet and excercise ive tried that; doesnt help
what can i do??? i wanna loose weight and FAST... yes FAST!!
Answers: How long were you doing diet & Exerscise for? There is a timeline for a fitness and diet regime.
First 10 days- You'll loose fluid retention (possibly a couple of kilos)
Following 2-4 weeks- You can gain weight (muscle mass) If your exerscising
4-6 week mark and beyond- your body starts to loose actual fat!
Its painfully long but thats the way our bodies work. Any "fast" weight loss will only be initial fluid loss and will come back if you dont hang on past those 6 weeks.
Try making 3x 2 week plans, mixed up of different diet and exerscises and see how you go at the end of 6 weeks.
Good luck :) xx

SERIOUSLY need to lose weight? / how to lose weight?
flabby thighs, luv handles, slightly chubby tummyalso its annoying whenever i sit for a period of time and i stand up there are red lines on my stomach from rolls.. anyone else have that problem?
im assuming i need to lose weight.. how? i cant control what i eat because i eat way too much of bad things.. cake icecream... lots of carbs.. i cant help it and im extremely unathletic and hate excercise BUT WHAT DO I DO
Answers: If you jump straight into a diet you'll probablly give up after a short time. Start off slowly by making small changes...
e.g light milk in place of full cream, low GI bread and carbs, low fat ham on sandwhices etc.
Also try drinkning a glass of water or having an apple before each meal, it will stop you from filling up on naughty things!
Do this until it becomes habit then gracefully make more changes :)
You have no choice. You must read how many calories are in what you are eating and keep it below 1500 or 1000 calories per day. I don't like to work out either, so I keep it under 1000. Get a high energy dog and walk him everyday, this will help you to get some exercise and is more fun than regular exercise. Great way is to eat frozen dinners like Healty Choice, etc. where you know exactly how many calories are in it and are actually filling. They have some really good meals under 200 calories out there. You must keep track of your calories throughout the day. Add them up as you go through your day. If you simply must have a sweet treat, see how many calories are in it and reduce whatever else you would normally eat to stay under your target calorie intake. They also sell some great low calorie ice cream from wieght watchers. Only 100 calories in a fudge bar. I have lost 35 lbs on this diet so far. Any other fad diet will only add the wieght back on plus some over time when you finally reach your goal. I have tried them and always gained the weight back plus some. You have to make a lifestyle change.
Changing over to low fat milk and wheat bread helps too. I was starting to become obese and could feel the health problems setting in. My feet started hurting, my hip, etc. I freaked and went to the doctor and he got me on the right track.
Oh yeah, and no soda! That is the worst. You can get some great mixed to put in bottled water with no calories, no carbs, no sugar and potassium and electrolites added and it tastes great.
Go on fast food restraunt websites and just read how many calories are in a combo meal. That should keep you away from that stuff. Can be up to 2500 calories in one meal. That is a man's normal intake for a whole day!
Aw mate, I totally empathise! I'm having the same prob - red lines and all - but I just won't admit that I've put on weight because I've always been "the skinny one".
Just think, Beyonce's not a skinny minny but she's toned so she looks fab and even her tree trunk-ish thighs look awesome because they don't wibble around. I think toning is the key here, what I've started doing is tensing my @rse when I'm in the car and the next day it hurts like I've actually exercised!
I got it into my head that fruit is nature's candy and has natural sugar and when I try to convince myself that it's a naughty thing to eat, I want it! I've been buying a huge tub of grapes from tesco instead of choccie or crisps and munching my way through them, it really really helps because my mouth is no longer bored and it's still quite a sweet thing to eat. Also, Innocent smoothies are awesome, try the strawberry and banana one to start with, it's lush - or if you're not keen try the kids smoothies.
I wish someone would come on here and tell me how I can get to a size 10 in a week but I think deep down we all know the answer - eat less and do more, but it's so hard. You got me on your side though hun! Good luck xxx

What are some good eating habits for a track runner?
i've tried to ask a question like this like last week but i guess it got misconcepted.. i've got about a month before winter track starts and it's going to be my first time coming back since 9th grade.. i'm in 11th now. i want to be my best especially after recovering from a knee injury. i want to know what are some good and bad eating habits, and also what things are good for me before meets and for the long run. thanksAnswers: Stay away from all carbonation. This doesn't help your wind. Also, stay away from sugar in general. What helps you keep up your energy during your running is plenty of good carbs from veggies, whole grains like whole wheat, brown rice, oatmeal, etc. Eat plenty of good proteins as well. When doing your longs runs, eat at least 2 hours before you run and then when you've run about and hour or so, have a bite of a good whole grain, low sugar protein bar and plenty of water, sipping it throughout your run. Right after your run, immediately eat protein like eggs, or chicken breast w/salad, etc. Protein shakes are good as well, because they're quick. The protein will help your muscles recover and rebuilt quickly.
Very healthy foods. Beans, Legumes, Nuts, Vegetables, Fruits, a little bit of meat. Before you go to meets, probably take in some protein rich vegetables.
How many calories should I eat daily?
I am a 15 year old girl, am overweight, and am 5'6".I live a fairly sedentary lifestyle.
The most active I get is jogging.
Please help because I usually have about 2,000 calories daily and I'm overweight.
Answers: 2000 calories is right. when you jog you could add some weights to your ankles or wrist to burn more calories (or carry something in each hand that you can swing while you jog or walk)....plus make sure you are balancing your diet between the food groups. have you thought about joining a weight loss group? they are really helpful in getting a balanced diet that will help you further along.
it takes time to lose weight and stress can actually cause you to gain weight. so don't stress out if you lose one pound one week and gain it the next...try weighing yourself the exact same time you did the time before to be more acurate and do account for pms to add a pound or two.
best wishes and keep a positive attitude about your diet and exercising and you'll lose the weight in no time.

I cannot tell you because I don't know your weight.
This will tell you how many calories you need per day to maintain your current weight. In order to lose weight, take that number and subtract 500, which will be your new calories per day number. Because 3,500 calories is equal to 1 pound of fat, subtracting 500 calories per day, will allow your body to drop 1 pound of fat per week. Adding exercise will only boost that. It is healthy to lose between 1-2 pounds per week. Making your diet healthy and nutritious will not only help with the process of fat loss, but will also make you feel better inside and out.
I would recommend speaking with a nutritionist to get an accurate calorie intake, because teenagers and young adults have very different calorie needs then those in there 20's and beyond. Because your body and your organs need important nutrients to continue to develop and thrive, it may not be safe to diet. Increasing your exsercise and choosing lower calorie foods may be a small step you can make on your own. Anything beyond that, and I would speak to an expert who knows the medical needs of your body.
Ways to flatten tummy?
I'm 13 and lost a bit of weight. But the tummy is still there? Any easy, at home stuff I can do to make it go away?Answers: You cant spot reduce fat!!
BUT If you do incorporate crunches into your regime, you will build stomach muscle which can improve the appearance of tummy fat :)
The guy who answered is WRONG!
No matter how many crunches you do, you will not lose weight like that....but when you do lose the weight there you will have muscles cause that's all crunches really do.
The best way to lose weight in your stomach or anywhere is aerobic activity followed by weight training (light) and proper diet. Women usually have more there cause we bear children and we store up on fat right there. The only true way to make sure it goes away is to have it sucked out!

Beginning to body build?
The most common answer I've recieved to build mass for a beginner...Is as follows...
Mon bench press 3 reps
rows 3 reps
squats 3 reps
Wed bench press 3 reps
deadlifts 3 reps
squats 3 reps
Fri bench press 3 reps
rows 3 reps
squats 3 reps
Do you agree... if not what do you recommend and why?
Answers: don't agree. go to a good gym and ask for a program. usually 3 sets of 10 reps on any exercise for beginners. try buying a muscle mag that has training programs in them. remember variety works better than a stagnant program.
You need to bench press less, (once or twice a week at most). Same for the squats. Your diet will control a lot of gaining size. You must eat like an athlete. This is more difficult than it sounds too.
How can a person get a six pack that has no time to go to the gym ples give some exorsizes!!!!!!!?
Answers: Read this article:
http://exercise.about.com/od/abs/ss/abex...
These are all effective ab exercises that can be done at home without equipment (minus the Captain's Chair, Torso Track, and Ab Rocker).
exorcism is performed by specially trained priests and has nothing to do with gyms or six-packs.
Am I fat/overweight?
I'm a teenager and I'm about..meh..4"11 to 5"0 tall. I weigh (my weight changes often) to 102-106 pounds.I feel fat =( honestly.
Am I fat or overweight or anything?
Answers: Eat more peanut butter!
NO
I am 4'10 124.....i am not fat...you sure aren't
u arent unless ur doctor says u r.
wen i was a teen, i had a high metabolism, so i often ate alot. one friend of mine would call me fat, but then sometimes she would call me stick, but overall, i was a stick
ur weight sounds about avg to me
You're fine.
It's all in your head.
No. Eat right, exercise, and don't worry about it.
Your body (boys and girls) still grows and changes into your early 20's, so just eat right. exercise, and don't obsess over it.
BE YOU.
omfg are you kidding
no your not fat
go on to exrt.net/com and they have all this stuff that helps you figure if your at a healthy weight
no, that is a healthy weight, by the time you are a teenager you want to be atleast 100 pounds, if not then you did not hit puberty. If you feel fat then eat leaner and exercise, or talk to someone (parent, legal guardian, doctor) and ask if you are overweight. also, if you are muscular than you should know that muscles weigh more than fat....
