Lose the Carbs, Lose the Weight- True of False?

I read somewhere that all you need to do to literally shed pounds off is to cut carbs out entirely.
That leads me to believe that you can still eat red meats, sugars [ fruits, candy, etc] so long as there are limited to no carbs in them.
But wouldn't that be unhealthy? Because as it's being claimed, you can eat anything but food with carbs- and that leaves a lot of options.

Will it work? Will you lose weight just by cutting out carbs only?
Answers: That's a bunch of junk....The way not to do it is starve yourself, to start with. Just exercise and eat right. I did....lost 90 LBS because of it. Starving yourself won't help at all. Drink more water, eat less before bed, and don't eat for stress are the 3 things I follow and i'm going pretty well if i don't say myself. 90 LBS isn't anything like 5-10lbs so take my advice. Carbs aren't necessarily bad for you. You should avoid your white breads/sugar and switch to something with more fiber in it for health reasons but it has little to do with weight gain/loss.

It is scientific FACT that the only thing that effects fat gain/loss is calories in/ calories out. You need to put out 3500 more calories than you input to lose 1 pound of fat. Dr. atkins' point was that by not eating carbs it would boost your metabolism leading to more calories out... There may be some validity to that but also consider if you're eating only meat type substances with no carbs, those are also high calorie foods causing the calorie intake to generally be higher. I personally wouldn't advocate an atkins style diet to anyone who is not a bad diabetic. The reason for that being that the atkins diet lack of carbs/sugar will help keep insulin levels normal.

Basically do this. Eat fruit, Eat vegetables, drink water, try to avoid processed foods, try to avoid sugar, and count calories that's the only way to diet unfortunately for you.
You are talking about a high protein low carb diet. These are not always safe and do have some health risks. If you insist on doing this, do not completely cut out carbs as that is what gives you energy. Carbohydrates are: breads, grains, pastas, sugars, most fruits, some veggies, potatoes or and root veggie, Milk contains carbs and most drinks as well. So a no carb diet would include, lean meat, fish, eggs, fat free cheeses, Green veggies, coffee, tea and water.

yes you can. change your eating habits and add daily exercise. I did it and i did not have to watch my calories. Try to get the fat out of your diet and add instead brown rice, oatmeal, lots of veggies, fruit, etc. Stop drinking soda.
If you eat healthy, get adequate sleep, and get plenty of exercise, the weight will take careof itself. Also you will feel good.
I have no opinion about feeling sexy or not but i do know that as one gets older ones body changes and it does seem as tho women are not able to loose weight as well...just another way for the woman to not have control of what they want and don't want. I used to loose unwanted weight in just days, and then i noticed it taking longer and longer and now i don't think could loose weight for anything. My mother is trying to lose weight with the atkins diet, but i'm trying to gain weight. Any suggestions?

I am 5' 6" and i weigh 106lbs. I'm tired of trying to find size 0 long pants and still have to be pulling them up all day. I want to be healthy again. What foods should i focus on and what ways can i go about gaining weight. Please keep in mind I'm a pretty busy person. I have alot of homework to do and I'm in a few clubs at school that require alot of my attention.
Answers: You'd need to do some resistance training to gain muscle. Eat sensibly, low fat, high protein and carbohydrate. One of the fastest ways to gain weight is to drink sodas and fruit juices in between meals.
Eat foods high in nutritional and caloric value. Carbohydrates from non-white sources (like white rice, white bread, those are bad) and eating lots of lean meat (full of protein) is also good. Yogurt and shakes are high in calories also but make sure there isn't too much sugar. If you're always in the go, just make a quick whole wheat sandwich with cheese and a glass of milk.

The most important thing is that the weight gain is from good calories and not bad fats.
First of all, I have to address your mother's weight loss efforts: The Atkins Diet is one of the WORST ways to lose weight. When you deprive your body of carbohydrates, it goes into a starvation mode. Which is makes you lose weight- carbs serve as fuel for our bodies. Once you go off the diet, more than likely you'll gain all of the weight you lost and then some. Okay, rant over.

Second- Lucky you- Indulge. If you want ice cream, then eat it. Carbohydrates and dairy are good foods to eat to pack on the pounds. Don't intentionally exercise either.

Cinnamon challenge how is it bad?


Answers: a tablespoon of cinnamon is poisonous to the body. If you dont gag and cough trying to get it into your mouth, your stomach automatically rejects it if you get it in.

I am 14 and want ripped abs & have a small layer of fat over my abs what should i do that wont damage me?

I am 14 i have a small layer of fat in my abdominal area, I am big for my age and i am happy with the way my body fat/muscle is distributed over my body i am just unhappy with the abdominal area. How can i lose the abdominal fat and get ripped abs without becoming skinny everywhere else (I wouldnt be worried about losing in my legs ( the reason why is as im a vegetarian and I lack protein so a bit of fat here and there makes me look better) also my friends are always saying that i can do weights later and turn fat into muscle but if i do will i still get good results wouldnt the muscles be hidden in a bit of fat
Answers: At 14 I would not worry all that much. Exercise, run, do not smoke or use drug and eat a planned meal.
Get Iron -- Spinach, etc.
Get Protein --- Soy -- and others -- Fat can be found in nuts and foods like olives avocados etc.

Answers: Lots of "crunches" (as in sit up form) . Lots of fish for protein and Omegas ( a "little" cheese/eggs) as it contains a lot of fat as well as essential proteins and calcium etc) being a vegetarian...green leaved veg for red blood muscle building iron -eaten with orange juice (vitamin C) to absorb the iron. Fat doesn't tend to lie where strong/used muscle tissue is and muscle actually burns up more calories overall.
You need calcium too at your age for bone growth so don't forget the milk. Try walking/cycling too...a 6 pack on fat legs aint gonna look in proportion.

yup theres two that have been clinically proven to work on prescription through your gp, but pills are a bit of a cop out, you should only go to them after you have tried at least three months of hard out diet and excercise then if not the pills

No. Diet pills will not solve your problem. Primarily because you would be losing a lot of proteins and other vitamins in foods. Rather avoid the fats and go gradually decreasing the candies. Do not eat big meals, opt for small meals throughout the day. In addition, an activity should help you lose calories too. Good luck for you!
