Is it possible to build inner thigh muscle?

Is it possible to build bigger inner thigh muscle? If so, how? Someone told me it was not possible. I'm a female trying to bulk up my skinny legs...any advice or tips will help. :-)
Answers: The inner thigh muscle or groin muscle is the one that tries to pull the leg across the other leg, and that tries to squeeze something placed between the legs. It's easier to build those muscles if both legs are involved in the exercising. There are machines at gyms that exercise the inner thigh muscles, and of course there is Suzanne Somer's ThighMaster. However, you can get the same results isometrically. If you can use one of your couch cushions, sit on the floor, up against a wall with your knees bent, and put the cushion edges between your knees with the flat side (the side you sit on) facing you. Now squeeze the cushion for a count of ten, hold for a count of ten, then relax. Repeat about five times at each sitting, and do this once or twice a day.

(If you also want to stretch those muscles and their tendons, get a partner to gently push your knees apart right after the ten-count.)

Answers: You can do it, but you have to build up to it. You can try what my daughter and I are doing - start with however many you can do fairly easily, and then build up slowly by adding one more each day. It will take awhile, but that is probably the best way to do it.

i would say to start low,
10 for 2 days,
15 the next,
then 20 for 2 days,
then up to 40 for 3 days, and so on. work your way up to that high number,(:
Once you can do a couple of them fairly quickly, you can begin to build up until you do 300. Start your day by doing whatever feels comfortable, just after you get out of bed.
Do the same number plus a couple extra sometime before you go to bed.
It's probably a good idea to do some warm-up and cool-down stretch excercises before and after the push-ups since doing 300 push-ups from a cold start can potentially cause injuries.

Increase the number gradually.

How much food can you take a day?

Most of the people in different countries are obese! right? So, how much food must a person take a day in order to be healthy?

1200 calories a day?

if im 5'9 tall
14 years old
128 pounds
and i run about a mile 5 days a week and every other day do weight training is it ok for me to eat 1200 calories a day mad up mainly of whole grains, fruits veggies, tofu, soy, and vegitarian foods? (with the occasional snickers..heyy im a kid!!) haha if i want to loose 10 lbs?
i want to loose fat mainly, and when i asked they said that i have about 10 lbs of excess fat on me.
is this ok?

Answers: If you have excess fat, dont try to lose weight, try to convert this fat to muscle, try for around 1500-1800 calories a day, dont ever starve yourselve, if you hungry but dont want a big meal, eat dried fruit or nuts. drink plenty of water.
your problems you're only 14, your intake of calories is too low especially for the amount you workout, you're already skinny, losing 10 additional pounds is way too much.

you sound very healthy! the norm for your height usually is around 135-145 lbs... if you run a mile 5 days a week that alone is enough exercise to keep you in great shape, you honestly don't need to lose any more weight; if you do you could be pushing anorexic and i don't think thats the look you should be going for...as for fat, instead of giving up food, keep up with a healthy diet and indulge once in a while, like you said you're still a kid, but you seem to be doing pretty good...if you really want to, instead of losing the only 10 lbs of fat you have=] you could tone your muscles and build lean muscles. best of luck to you

Hmmmmm, 1200 is really low. Also, if you want to lose fat and gain muscle, consider adding more protein to your diet. This includes things like meat, eggs, and milk. If you do drink milk, be sure to get the kind with no hormones in it, like from Braums. You can also get the no fat kind which contains extra calcium and protein. Protein will help you build muscle.

Also, who is this "they" who told you you had extra fat? If you are 5'9 and 128 lbs. that means your BMI (Body Mass Index) is about 18.9, which is on the low side of normal. Don't worry too much about losing 10 lbs. In fact, it might now be smart to lose 10 lbs at this point.

It sounds like you need about 2100 calories a day, considering that you are still growing... you're only 14.

If you feel like you need to tone your body (which will help reduce "extra fat"), then try doing some core building like Pilates.

Lunch at 10:30?

is it okay to eat lunch at 10:30am and eat my breakfast at 6:30am?

Yeah my luch at school is at 10:20. It's crazy but I'm actually hungry by that time. If your not hungry and get hungry later just eat a light breakfast like a banana or something small.

Answers: don't buy any gimmick "spot reducing" equipment!!!! it is a waste of money.

do squats, lunges, and there are so many variations of these three exercises you can do. AND ITS FREE!!!!
I hear you on that one, but I have been using the
Body by Jake - bun and thigh machine. Works like a charm, only 3 minutes a day!
To tone your thighs you should do squats, but in my experience, walking/running up steep steps really do the trick!
Pilates is always good...plie squats , any equipment that adducts is also good. Go to your local bookstore or library and check out some fittness books to get some good ideas on exercises. Exercise at least 3 times per week and change up your routine ...the bun roller might be a good start but you need variety and using your own body weight is just as or even more effective.
I'm not sure I can say this without getting pitched out on my keyboard but have you considered the oldest form of exercise in the world?
Walking until the thigh burns, or itches, indicating high blood circulation. On down days from walking do leg squats using a large $1.00 beach ball. Place the ball behind your lower back against a firm wall or door. Plant your feet shouder width apart and flat on the ground. Bend your knees and squat slowly to a slow count of 3-4, hold the position and then stand back up. Do not lock your knees in the upright position, but keep them slightly bent. The ball will roll up your back around shoulder high. Repeat until you feel the burn. Be careful to not over-do it the first few times. Drink a lot of water to flush out cellulite and other impurities. Another alternate leg exercise is to do the lunge. You will look ridiculous, but who cares when you can get gorgeous legs! You will be taking giant steps and bending down as low as you can and still get get back up as you walk a length of area. Once again, be careful to not over-do it. The point is to use the large muscle groups, building muscle mass to fill out and replace fat. Keep in mind that the upper leg is the largest muscle mass on your body and being so will weigh more than fat. But who cares? You will have gorgeous legs!
walking is da best excercise. try to walk some meters everyday. or wen going to office instead of riding ur car just walk. its realy healthy and will tone ur thighs

Eating Disorder ?

I not sure when this all started but i felt fat and not happy about my weight! I dont really eat much in the day unless i have to (family meal or someone telling me to eat).

My best friends and family started to realise that i have a problem and confronted me. i totaly brushed it off and change the subject and decided i have to hide my problem better.

To avoid eating i now say i have alrady eaten, i dont feel well or hide food in my room. im all ways cold and tired and no its proberly down to this. somtimes if i made to eat i WHOLE meal i will purge at night.

Im 5"3 and weigh 106 pounds (think im big)

Answers: First of all, you are not big. You don't say how old you are, but that looks to be a pretty average weight for someone in their teens.

Everybody needs to eat. Energy from calories, protein, fats and carbs are all necessary to stay healthy. If you are avoiding eating then you *might* have a problem. It is good though that you recognise this. The important thing is to see a professional and soon.

You *must* talk to someone. Even if you cannot talk to a family member or an adult family friend, you should talk to a doctor. If you don't want to talk to your family doctor, then is there no other doctor you can find?

Really, DietFitnessFAQ.com is not the best place to help you with this, but it's a start, at least you know you have a problem.

You should talk to a counselor, because by the looks of it you obviously know it's not good for you, i.e, your coldness etc.

Really you are a healthy weight, but if this carries on any longer you are going to drop the pounds....it might be a while before people notice a difference but you certainly will.
AND this is terribly unhealthy for you, by starving/purging you are going to:
1.) MUCK up your metabolism, meaning anything you do eat will be stored by the body as if it's the last thing you are going to get, possibly making it even harder to lose weight, perhaps making you gain weight when you start eating properly again.
2.) Damage your throat/esophagus, because too much purging...can lead to tearing the lining of your throat, resulting in purging up blood, not just food...nasty stuff, i wouldn't go there if i were you!
3.)Become weak, tired, cold, drained, ill...be more prone to diseases/viruses and constantly have headaches due to lack of eating, insomnia will start to kick in, and you will faint a lot!

Seriously hunny, you do not want to take thing any further!
Please seek advice for this by a proffessional, you need to realise that there is more to life than looks and that you are already at a healthy weight.
You probably have some sort of BDD(Body dysmorphic disorder) but i am not sure how severe your case is.

Again, consult someone as they will be able to help you through therapy!

You sound dismorphic. While that sounds scary and complicated, what it means is you have a distorted view of your body. 106 lbs. is very light for someone who is 5ft 3 in. I'm supposed to be that much and I'm barely 5ft. 1in.!

You also obviously have a problem. You need to talk to your parents or to another trusted adult. Purging is a sign of bulimia and making excuses to avoid eating is a sign of anorexia.

You also need to see your doctor. Nobody here can really help you other than you and your doctor. You'll probably be put into therapy and nutritional counseling. It's nothing to be ashamed of, though it can be kind of scary to confront your inner demons.

I have bulimia. I have damaged my body because I didn't treat it when it fully manifested some two years ago, and I didn't even think of it when I started showing signs of bulimia six years ago. If you get treatment now, you can save yourself a lot of agony and pain.

Answers: Its really hard for me to pay attention in class, and Im in college, But when I double my intake of prtien, Im able to calm adown a little, and can pay attentiong more. I also know that people use riddlen for a reverse effect, and A LOT of people have seen big results from doing this, but you want to check with your doctor first

Well, it all depends on how tall the person is.
I'm about 5'5 and I'm 123 pounds... I think... but I would say that there is no limit on weight for a 13 year old because it doesn't matter. We're all different in our own way.
If you are asking this question it is because your child is fat. What you do is lead by example fatty. Stop eating yourself and start exercising and your 13 yr old will follow your example. But you now the problem isn't the 13 yr old, the problem is that you stuff your fat face with too much food fatso. Therefore as long as your 13 yr old see you stuffing your face. What are his/her chances?
