How do you get back on your diet plan that was working before when you get off for a few days?
I've been doing really well for the past 8 weeks , going to a personal trainer and eating a lot less and mostly healthy stuff. Now, I hurt my shoulder and ankle last Tues. when I fell down some stairs and can't get motivated to be that healthy person.I've been eating lots of candy, and basically whatever else I want. I don't want it to go on much longer. Any good advice on getting back on the train is greatly appreciated !
Answers: It's all about self-motivation.
You must try to remind yourself how great you were feeling when you were working out and/or eating right. Realize that eating the junk is Not getting you closer to where you want to be in the future.
I know exactly how you feel. After a couple of days of not eating right/exercising, I lose a lot of motivation. Since you can't work out at this time, try to concentrate on eating more healthily.
Get off the pity pot and get back to your healthy lifestyle.
Sure, everybody falls off their regimin once in awhile, but get back on at the very next meal! You will feel so much better about yourself if you do.
I like what the trainer on Biggest Loser, Bob Harper, said. He says that it doesn't matter how long you've been 'off the wagon', whether it's been a day or a weekend or a couple weeks, just get back on. It's never too late to pick up the ball and keep going. Don't undo your work.
I had a shoulder injury after a car accident and I ate all sorts of stuff I shouldn't have, because it was easy and I was in pain. Now I sorely regret doing that because now I have to lose all that weight.
Don't give up! Just pick up where you left off on the diet, and pick up on the exercise when you're healed. You might try swimming or walking in a pool for exercise that won't strain your ankle and crunches and core exercises that won't hurt your shoulder.

yes. it is exercising and eating healthy, not junky foods.
if you absolutely hate exercising, try taking some yoga class and even some dance class. and if you exercise daily, then you can eat just about as much as you want of any homemade food (not frozen or micro-waved foods!)
Do not eat anything after 6 p.m. Find a hobby instead. I lost 35 pounds when I bought my current house to remodel and flip. There is nothing like financial gain or loss to keep you busy and not hungry. I went 2 days without food for several times in a two week period. I just wasn't hungry. Did you know that if you swim 2 miles per day you can eat ANYTHING you want. It works. When I was a lifeguard, I ate like a pig and never gained any weight. Try doing laundry by hand. That is a workout!
Well the bottom line is, if you want to keep the weight off, no diet pill or quick fix will solve the problem. Simply, you have to eat less and move more. Track your calories and set a goal for the number of calories you eat, lower than usual. Start subsituting unhealthy foods for healthy and beneficial ones. Also, start working out. You can jog, run, use the elliptical, play a sport, etc. And do some weights to tone your body and build muscle, it burns more calories.
You say you don't have the will or mind power but just think of what you prefer: eating that fattening food that brings you pleasure for about 5 minutes or feeling leaner and healthier which brings a lifetime of pleasure.
Its up to you in the end! Make a commitment and stick to it!

The key for me has been the low glycemic diet.
I have a link for the glycemic index chart. There are no pills or diets to buy! Just eat foods that are low on the glycemic index chart. This diet works slow, but sure for me.
You might find better charts by putting "glycemic index chart" into a search.
It works because the low glycemic index foods release sugar into your bloodstream more slowly, and so don't turn to fat as quick as the others.
Of course, if you jog or chop down trees for a living, none of this matters. But for the rest of us, it's important. . . . the speed that sugar is released into your bloodstream is a huge factor.

ok i started working out again after not working out for a year can someone tell me some good chest, bicep, tricep, and deltoid work outs? thxsAnswers: I like the military press (overhead press) for triceps and delts. If your gym has a machine or if you're using dumbbells, you can improve on the basic military press by moving the weights/hands together on the upward motion.
I like pull downs for biceps/lats/shoulders. I usually use the long bar and do a set of 10 behind my head, 10 down to my chest, and 10 with my hands closer together with palms facing toward me.
For chest I usually rotate chest press, incline press and the butterfly-type machine with the big round pads that go in your elbows. I rotate doing one or two of these every workout day. Pushups never fail for chest either.

400 calories is a joke. You should have a MINIMUM (no less than) 1200 calories daily. If you consume only 400 calories daily, your body will go into starvation mode, your metabolism will slow down, and it will become that much harder to lose weight.

Slayer90 is absolutely correct. You cannot get the proper nutrients in 400 calories per day.
Check with your doctor. He/she can provide you with a balanced 1200 or 1500 calorie diet wherein you can lose weight without falling flat on your face, which is what would happen if you tried 400 calories.
Remember, it is what works for you for the long haul, not some instant one-month miracle.
The typical male needs a diet of 2000 calories a day to keep their current weight. Since it takes about 3500 calories to lose 1 pound of weight then (2000-400) =1600 negative calories per day or close to 1/2 pound. Over 30 days you would lose from 16 to 20 pounds.
Now for some reality. Your body will not allow you to do it without shutting down. Your body needs a minimum amount of calories just to keep itself alive. 400 calories will cause you medical issues. Plus, instead of losing fat your body will eat its own muscle which is self defeating. Finally, once the experiment is over you have a 90 percent chance of gaining most if not all of the lost weight back within 1 years time.
Don't do it. Plan to lost 2 pounds a week safely and you can keep it off forever. it worked well for me and I never gained it back.

I'm 15 yo male, 5' 9'' I'm not very athletic (not until baseball starts at my school in January). you already have abs, you just need condition them so you can show them off.
if you're already skinny, you're already at an easier point than most. try lifting some weights, doing crunches, and other calisthenics. (jumping rope, leg lifts front leaning rest (like pushups, only stay up for a whole minute and don't move)). You want to work out the whole range of muscles, lest you'll have tight abs and a bird chest. good luck

How many meals a day do you eat?I find myself rarely eating 3 meals a day, Usually lunch and dinner and just kind of snack on stuff throughout the day.
Is this bad?
Answers: i know what its like to be in college and than trying to eat healthy. its hard. you really do need a good healthy breakfast to have a good start for the day. snacking is ok as long as its not all day long and you have some healthy snacks. you really should eat three balanced meals a day.

Calorie counter?

This is my theory and this is what works for me. Everyone is different so it may need to be adjusted to your own personal needs.
Energy In/Energy Out
Food Intake: 1,200 Per Day
One Pound equals 3,500 Calories
To loose one pound per day, You need to burn your food intake plus your one pound of fat
1,200 (intake) + 3,500 (Outtake) = 4,700 Calories Burn
You must burn at least 4,700 Calories everyday to loose one pound atleast. It is very easy to go up and beyond 4,700 calories each day.
Best way to do this is to track your progress on a calorie counter monitor watch. If you do it by the numbers you can loose the weight. It is just a matter of changing the way you think about weight loss.
Once you start wearing your calorie counter you can see the numbers increase and you fill find yourself doing extra things in your day, like tapping your foot while witing at the light in your car, chewing gum, singing outloud and so on ontop of your workout routines. You begin to see that everything you do in your day contributes to the overall numbers needed to loose that pound.
I myself have done this recently. Two weeks later, I lost one pant size and 10 pounds.
I personally burn 1,000 calories by Walking in my community for one hour in the morning and I also burn 1,000 calories by simply playing xbox while playing tetrus. I get so involved in playing xbox that I completely forget I am pedaling or working out. Think about it..How many hours have you spent playing video games..why not burn calories while you are doing it.

Good Food
My favorite things to eat:
Avacado Wraps
Simple: Low Carb Tortilla, Half Avacdo sliced, alpha sprouts, lettuce, soy bacon...Just wrap it up and eat. You can vary the things you put inside so long as you keep it to approx 4 or 5 items. You want to make sure they are fresh, low calorie and filling. Avacado and mushrooms can replace meats in your meal and still have great taste.
Special K Cereals are fantastic. They have that sweetness that one craves and is so good for you. Calories are low. Great for even just dinner.
First thing in the morning...A Glass of Chocolate Milk. Yup!! Chocolate Milk. We all crave that "got to have" item in the morning. Milk is the best thing you can have for yourself while working out. The chocolate (and you can use Carnation Instant Milk for this but I simply use Nestle dry mix) will give you that sweet "snack" that you need. If you give your body a little bit of it and its in a control way, you will not crave sweets and junk the rest of the day.
Lean Cusines
Fantastic food! Each meal is approx 180 t0 380 calories per box. So think about your calories. 1,200...You can still have several of these meals a day and still be under your intake requirements.
Its all amout the numbers and watching what you take in and what you burn out. And you know what..if you go over your 1,200 mark for food intake...thats okay...you simple up your total calories burned for the day by what you took it. So long as you burn off the over all calories to be more than your food intake. Just make sure you stick too it so you can reach your weight loss goals.

Soda/Carbination
Carbination is terrible for your system because it bloats your stomach. And when your stomach bloats, your jeans just don't fit. You can drop one pant size simply by NOT drinking any carbinated drinks all together..Take away the bloat and you have instantly just made it one pant size lower. Besides, Sodas dehydrate you and with that One a Day Vitamin, you won't need the Caffenie in the soda and it will also cut out those extra calories that you don't need.
So remove that soda and the energy drinks and just think how much calories you just instantly removed from your daily intake. I normally consume what...four sodas and two energy drinks in one day...that is a total of .... 900 calories..Of what? Nothing...Those are horrible calories and calories that can be replaced by food which will fuel your body for your day and your workouts.

Your Body
Your body is like a computer. You must program your body to do what it is suppose to do so it won't crash and leave you with a virus. Your stomach is only the size of your fist. So think about it right now, Look at your hand and close your fist. Not very big is it. That is how much food you actually ONLY need to eat, each time you eat for every meal. If you eat anything more than that, you will stretch out your stomach which causes overeating and overweight.
What you need to do is eat every three hours, approx 5 to 7 times everyday around the same time. If you are always giving your body healthy and better food choices (the size of your fist) every three hours, your body will know you are giving it food. It will use that food properly. It will not go into starvation mode or store food away for later because it knows...it will get more in three hours. So what does your body do...it flushes everything out of your system because it doesn't need it.. I Now knows...you wont' forget about it and that food is on its way.

Walking Buddy
This is the best thing especially for woman. Get a walking buddy. One hour everyday. Just think about how much talking, venting and laughing two woman can do together while walking and yup, you guessed it...it just burns more calories and reduces your stress. You now are more relaxed because you can talk and free yourself of whatever is frustrating you while getting into shape.

How can you gain weight proportionally?
I am 5'7 100 lbs. I tried to gain weight, and ate and ate and ate and gained 4 pounds.
