Diet Fitness Questions and Answers
Migraine Issue?
I was doing heavy squat lifting and strained too hard and got a small headache. I have been lifting for a long time now and this has never happened before. It went away for 2 days and I thought I was fine so I went to lift again and then my head hurt so bad that I had to stop lifting right away. This has been happening for about a week. Anytime I exert myself I get serious migraine like pain. Is this pretty serious? When will it go away. What is wrong with me?Answers: Best to see an MD soon. It could be nothing more than a pulled muscle. But it could also be a herniated disc in your neck or even a small leak in a blood vessel. At any rate, stop lifting until you get an okay.
Hi,
I've tried so many different diets in the last 10 years that I can say now, they don't work!
A few months ago, I came across a great product for weight loss and like many others I was skeptical about it. But I really wanted to lose weight and I tried it. The results were excellent and I lost 20 pounds in 2 months. I felt fantastic and I dropped another 5 pounds safely. That's why I recommend you check this product at http://www.fit-thin.info where they have a free trial and you only pay $6.95 shipping and handling.
Good luck!
What is a good excercise?.....?

Is it true?
is it true that if u work on u'r muscles too much when u'r like 13 14 year old u won't get tall dat much when u grow up i'm asking because i'm 14 and i want to work on my biceps by picking up weights ,but i heard if u work out when u'r little u don't that much taller when u grow upAnswers: It is true that working out too heavily can stunt your growth. You can safely work out upper body at 12-13. But nothing that does any spine compression until at least 14 years of age. You can safely work on your biceps at your age without any worries. Just start with smaller weights and work your way up.
its true. but only if u bench press b4 atleast age 16 or 17.
i want 2 become a professional basketball player when im older, nd benching 120-130 pounds when im 14 isnt gonna get me 2 the nba.
You're 14 and still growing.......
You wanna do weights......
A bit tricky here.
Why I say so?
Because if you're going to do it unsupervised or without proper guidance/training, there's a likelihood that you'll damage your growth plate, hence impeding your physical growth and development.......
The best way?
Ask your parents to hire a qualified personal trainer to train you properly on how to do weights.
If that's not possible, what about asking your PE teacher to guide you?
All said, you need to be properly guided and trained at your age, when doing weights.

How can i lose weight!!?
im 5'5 and 120lbs i exercise everyday for 40 mins and eat around 1200-1300 calories a day. Ive been doing this for 2 months and have only lost 1lb. what should i do?Answers: . Lower your carbohydrate intake. Carbohydrates are essential to the body. You need a certain amount for your body to digest protein and fat. But if you limited yourself to say 15 grams a meal it would really help. I'm NOT saying go on Atkins or South Beach. Just try to cut out refined sugar and processed flour. Stuff like that makes you gain weight and it actually makes you tired!
2. Protein and veggies are your friend. It takes the body 6 hours to digest fat and protein in the stomach. The addition of more protein in the form of nuts, eggs, and meat will keep your hunger away. Yes nuts, eggs, and meat all contain more fat. That's why veggies are important. Veggies have fiber in them. Fiber helps the body push fat out of the body before it is absorbed. That's why a slice of veggie pizza is actually fairly healthy.
3. Exercise. Diet without exercise is like a fish wothout water. It helps boost your metabolism. Your metabolism decides how fast you are going to use the calories you intake. So even a 1/2 mile walk before a meal helps your body use the meal more efficiently. A combination of cardio and something like Pilates will help you burn calories and create muscle.
4. Keeping a food diary really helps. Knowing what you've already put in your mouth helps more stuff stay out. It also helps you avoid mistakes in your diet. If you start to slow in your weight loss you can check back on what you've eaten and drunk to see where you went wrong.
5. Lower your caffeine intake and drink more water. Too much caffeine makes the body produce stress hormones and can cause hypoglycemia. Water is naturally better and helps improve your skin.
6. Take your vitamins. An everyday mulit-vitamin, fish oil, and a B complex is recommended to keep you healthy and make sure you get your essantials. They help your body fuction properly whichwill help speed up your weight loss.
Well good luck and hope I helped!

Serious question: Is lowering consumption of food the only affect of gastric bypass?
I just watched a documentary about obesity so I'm curious- but I don't want it to come off sounding like I think all people can just fix their obesity on their own. I just truly want to know, factually, if the sole purpose of gastric bypass/Lap Band is to limit consumption of food? And would, therefore, limiting oneself to the same portions as the portions a person with this surgery has had produce the same results? Is there another element to the surgery that assists in rapid loss of weight?Answers: with gastric bypass, they bypass some of the intestine too, making you absorb less calories. it's actually quite dangerous, but effective. that's why pple who've had the surgery have to take vitamins everyday or else they risk malnutrition.
yes...you spend a lot of time in the bathroom.
So you eat less and less food stays in your system. You retain fewer calories and fewer vitamins. (and water...)
Its purpose is as the stomach is made smaller, you don't eat as much and don't get hungry as often.
The surgery actually prevents about 75% of the food digestion in the intestines, so you basically send your body into malnutrition for a year. If you do not change your eating habits during that year, after the diet restrictions are lifted when the surgical site is healed, YOU WILL REGAIN the weight!! During the first year, you take vitamins and/or shots to replace the lost ones through a normal diet. If a person could control what they ate, they wouldn't need the surgery, but it goes back to bad eating habits, codependent and enables that allow them to eat badly. Remember no one cure is good for everyone, surgery has major risks, but so does obesity.
I won't be of much help but I looked into the bypass & talked with some people that had it done. When they come out of surgery they are on soft foods for a week , for healing purposes i assume, & have several vitamins they have to take. My one friend who went through it said that her limit of food intake was 1/4 of a cup. That is all her stomach would or could hold!
I don't think if i was going to try dieting that i'd be able to eat just a 1/4 cup for a meal. Go measure out a 1/4 cup of food on a plate sometime, least you know why they have to take so many vitamins. They sure aren't getting what the human body needs to survive from food!

Is being 5'10 & only a14 year old girl too talll to be a freshman.?
Answers: no, i was that height as a freshman in high school.
how can you be to tall to be a freshman? or short for that matter.
no,nobody is too tall or to short were perfect and so are you.
everyone doesn't like what they get short girls want to be tall. tall want to short.that's just life.
Steph - you are as tall as you're supposed to be - and maybe you'll get taller before you quit growing - but there isn't much you can do about your height. But, do stand up straight and don't slouch - that really doesn't make you look shorter - it'll just give you back problems (very painful) later. I was tall also at that age - the boys will catch up.
And you can reach things shorter people can't - always an advantage.
Have a good one
DAMN YOUR TALLER THAN ME HOW U GET THAT TALL I'M 5'7 AND A SOPHOMORE

How long should it take 2 get a good 6 pack?
i've been doing 100 crunches a night, nd trying 2 eat less junk food nd more healthy food for the past 2-3 months. im not seeing much improvement (meaning u can still only see my 6 pack when i flex my abs, im 13), so is there nething else i can do 2 improve my pack, or just have more patients and let it grow? plz help!Answers: All the crunches in the world won't help them show. You have a layer of fat covering your abs and that's what's keeping your six pack from showing. Try to do some cardio (running, jogging, biking, etc...) and continue eating less junk food.
Hi there, first of all good deal that you're doing this when you're thirteen and not thirty. Something you might want to think about is going to a bootcamp fitness type of place like ones you can find on http://www.fitnesscamps.net/ and have a real intense one week tune up type of experience. There are several fitness camp type places you can check out that have week long programs for kids and this should do it for you. I know the stigma is that these places are for very over weight people but I don't think it's the case. IT's more of a do you think it'll get you your results? And i honestly think a good place will. You can also enter kid weight loss camp or something like that on google, and with that find a place like that. I'm much older than you are, but something like that worked for me. Remember that there's two things you can do to make your abs shine thru. Make your abs bigger which is what it sounds like you're doing, and Getting rid of the other "stuff" around your abs. The other stuff is fat. Now you're still growin, going thru puberty so you shouldn't mess around with diets, but a good place that understands nutrition should have you in the way you are, and out with a six pack, Why don't you try and give them a call and see what they tell you. If you're serious about your goal, they'll take you serious. And if they don't they're dummies for not doing so. Good luck with your quest, it's always good to meet someone looking to make their life experience a good one.

4) How much weight did you lose

6) How long did you stay on them
7) Do you have to stick to a really strict regime and what foods are freely available wuithout having too much fat.
8) Would you recommend them to other people
9) Did you keep the weight off
10) Is it better to stick to a low fat diet.
Just wondering if anyone can help with info or advice regarding any of the above.
Answers: This is another Alli type diet drug. The main theme with all of these drugs is the sudden bouts of uncontrollable diarrhea. This is the story I get over and over..."So, I started taking it. Well, I spent half my life in the bathroom with diarrhea. I could never leave the house after I ate because I knew that I would have to run to the bathroom. If I had an appointment and had to be somewhere, I would have to stop taking the Xanical two days before so that I could recover and be able to get through the day. Then I would forget to get back on the pill. It would yo-yo like this for the next 6 months. Needless to say this also was a failure". Some of the common side effects
severe joint pain arthritis
no periods (maybe once or twice a year)
for the past 5-6 years constant heartburn (acid reflux disease?)
Shortness of breath (after minor exertion)
rapid heart beat (after minor exertion)
swelling
depression
constant severe chronic back pain
tiredness
incontinence
Sounds like the cure is worse than the disease....
Help for a college student who wants to eat healthy!?
I'm a freshman college student and I'm trying to stay away from that dreaded 15 pounds. In fact, I'd like to lose some weight. What are some quick healthy recipes that I can make to keep me away from cafeteria food?Answers: well not all cafeteria food is bad, and actually the weight gain can be caused from NOT going to the cafeteria.
food you can prepare in your room (mac and cheese, noodles and instant meals) those are high in sodium. stay away from those. also take out is bad, dont order food to be delivered to your room.
walk everywhere on campus if you can. and when you go to the cafeteria, have a salad a few times a week. dont over do it, otherwise you will get sick of it. most cafe's have different options, stay away from pizza and french fries or anything greasy. most colleges email you the menu, try going for what they are serving as the meal or if you dont like it do salad.
its all about portion too, its easier to eat a lot because you pay once and eat what you want. only go up once.
sex (:
always eat out
do the do
