Diet Fitness Questions and Answers
How many calories should a 6'5 guy eat in order to maintain a healthy weight?
Answers: it's not the quantity but the quality
if you don't exercise much: 2500ish
if you exercise moderately:3000ish
if you exercise excessively: 3500-4000ish
I wouldn't try to count the amount of calories you eat per day, just eat until you are about 2/3 full every meal and have healthy snacks, exercise regularly
2,500 approx. if you maintain a healthy well balanced diet, rich in vegetables and fruits, with whole grains, high-fiber foods, lean meats and poultry, fish at least twice a week, and fat-free or 1 percent fat dairy productsMany snack foods and beverages have added sugars. Cut back on added sugars to lower your total calorie intake and help control your weight. These foods also tend to be low in vitamins and minerals, and the calories add up quickly. Drinking calorie-containing beverages may not make you feel full. This could tempt you to eat and drink more than you need and gain weight.
Examples of added sugars are sucrose, glucose, fructose, maltose, dextrose, corn syrups, high-fructose corn syrup, concentrated fruit juice and honey.
Read the ingredient list. Choose items that don’t have added sugars in their first four listed ingredients. Have a happy healthy wonderful life!
There are plenty of calorie counters, but you should provide your weight for the mathematical formula
2,500 is an average, but it depends on if you want to maintain, lose, or gain weight too
Depends what food your eating and depends what you want to do. If your muscle training or very athletic then 3000 should do it. If you just want a diet and lose some weight over time 1,900 of healthy foods should do the trick. By healthy foods stick to vegetables and nuts, and consume about 3 ounces of meat per meal if you want to keep some muscles. Also try avoiding proccessed foods (ie.Cola, Miracle Whip(?), or canned foods)

STOP TRYING TO LOOSE WEAGHT YOUR BEUTIFUL THE WAY YOU ARE!!!!! G'S
Im on a diet and eat about 500 calories a day is that inhealthy?
Answers: yes very. even if you negate the fact that its just too little calories to maintain your lean body mass, you still are not getting all of the vitamins and minerals you need to maintain yourself.
Eating less food than your lean body mass needs to maintain itself is a bad idea....in case you want to know how to find out what your LBM is just google a bodyfat % calculator online and it will tell you your lean body mass. take the lean body mass, add 10% for a target body fat and then figure out how many calories you need based on that...this should be the MINIMUM of calories you eat each day, even if you do or dont exercise. you need the vitamins and minerals to maintain your body and keep it from starving.
thats extremly unhealthy, you should be eating 2,500 calories a day on average.
calories aren't what makes you lose weight-
calories is the amount of energy released from food
you should be eating things low in fats and carbohydrates, no meat, and only drink water
thats a healthy diet
You need to eat at least 1000 a day of else your body will start canibalizing itself

[I'd prefer elliptical, I think] I own a treadmill, but there is jarring & pounding with usage.

the ellipitical I believe shows the best results.

Help me find ways to get in shape for my wedding!?
I am 5'2 and weigh 110 pounds. i am getting married in September.. i want to be able to get in shape fast...have a super model body but i cant seem to accomplish that. Tell me some ways to help me accomplish that so i can feel confident on my wedding day!Answers: Well, it doesn't seem you need to lose weight, but are just looking to tone up. To maintain your weight do 30 min. cardio 4x a week. Do lightweight weights with many repetitions. Best way to get guidance is to join a gym (if you haven't already) and do a few personal training sessions so a personal trainer can lead you in the right direction. And, although you don't need to lose weight, continue to eat healthy. Lots of greens, fruits, lean protein, less carbs, no fried foods or sweets.
Okay. Cut out eating in between meals.
Only eat healthy food and cut down on Carb’s like bread, potatoes, pasta's, rice, cereals, lollies, fruits etc. These are the fat making foods. Learn exactly what your food groups are so you then know what puts the weight on and off.
Don’t add salt to your meals. Cut out soft drinks.
Then walk an hour every morning two hours after a meal and the same in the afternoon.
If you can jog in between both sessions you'll burn even more calories. But just do what your body lets you do. Walking is just as good combined with diet control.
You should lose and continue to lose more weight as you go.
If you can cut out your lunch meal and replace it with a protein drink instead that would also help. Available in supermarkets. Like “Slim Right”.
As long as you can stay off junk food and eating in between meals. If you have to eat something in between have something like small raw carrots or celery sticks.
Herbal teas, low fat milk and water are your best choice of drinks.
Summary:
Choose a cereal low in sugar for breakfast.
Lunch can best be a protein drink. Like “Slim Right”.
And all normal meals at a normal serve. Cut down on potatoes and only have small portions of these. Walking as much as you can.
For those that want to build more muscle add some gym work to the above as well.
Technical Stuff:
All our bodies require a specific quantity of a protein level. The protein is taken from the food we eat. If we eat higher concentrations of protein from specific foods like say meat then that level is reached quickly. If we don’t eat enough protein then our body searches for other sources of protein contained within the Carbohydrates.
Carbohydrates only contain a small amount of protein so we end up consuming too much of it just to get out limit of protein. At the same time absorbing too much sugar from the carbohydrates and in turn too much weight. This is how and why we put on weight. Many people over eat because they don’t consume enough protein from the right sources. Then they over compensate by binge eating carbohydrate type foods.
get a personal trainer
What exercises do I need to do to learn the splits?
I'm looking to learn how to do the splits where your legs extend outwards in the direction of your sides. What could I do to achieve this? Are there specific exercises or should I just attempt them and gradually reduce the distance from the ground?Answers: Legs stretches while sitting. Legs out in front of you and with them apart. Do not bounce. Reach for one leg then the other and then to the center. With legs together reach for you toes with your toes pointed then with you toes flexed. Also do the toe thing with your legs apart. Standing, lift one leg on a sturdy table etc.extend it to the side (right leg to the right etc.) and reach for your foot, flexed and pointed.
gymnastics.
& just stretch every morning.
*remember it takes many years to do the splits.
good luck :]
Am i overweight?
I'm 20 years old i'm 5 ft 11 and i weigh just over 13 stone, i go running about 3 times a week (2 miles at a fast pace), i do push ups and sit ups regularly and i have an active job (milkman). I don't smoke and i don't drink often (once a month maybe). Do i need to lose weight?Answers: No idea, try a Body Mass index test

no, you are at a perfect weight in my eyes,
keep up on the exercise & you should be good. eat foods that make you feel good.
if you want to lose weight, it wouldn't hurt :)
You are slightly overweight, but nothing to be worried about. BMI isn't reliable... but its what most people go off...
25.4... 25 is overweight... so its only marginal
yes, you are overweight
you're BMI is 25.42, which is in the overweight range.
but don't worry! you're not too overweight. all you have to do is say good bye to a fraction of the junk food you eat, and excercise just a little bit more. soon, you'll be at a healthy rate.
healthy eating tips:
-drink as much iced cold water as you can
-don't drink any soda, diet or regular, it's bad for you
-eat PLENTY of fruits and veggies
-no dark meats, just the stuff like fish and chicken
and remember, organic foods can be healthy, and delicious! you don't have to give up snacks!
also, since you're a milkman you probably get up early in the morning (i don't really know, i live in america but i go to wales every summer) so you already get that extra boost in the morning which burns more calories. so, that's good too :)
hope it helped, and good luck!

Difficult to say really. I'm 24, about 13 stone and not to sure about hight but I am not short and I am below 6ft. I am slightly overweight but nothing a bit of excerise wouldn't solve.
Without seeing a picture it's hard to say really. As I know people who are very fit and weight a few stone more than me and are about my height. If you do exercise, have an active job and don't smoke I would say you would be as healthy enough. But if you are flabby and don't like it then get some weights and do a bit of weight lifting to tone up.
Remember muscle is heavier than fat and it's bad to go on a diet. If you want to loose weight then just cut down on the size of your meals and cut out most of the snacks and keep up the exercise.
No.
Probably Not.
Losing weight?
I'd like to drop a lot of weight, but it doesn't seem like I really eat that much. Oatmeal in the morning, a light lunch then dinner and I've gotten off soda ,and caffeine in general, for the most part. But I wasn't really losing much weight. So I figured I just need more exercise because, aside from walking around between classes at school, I don't exercise much on the weekdays. So I've been trying to walk lately (I don't really have access to a gym) but can't really find the time other than on the weekends. So I really have 3 questions.1)How much would I have to walk a day to lose a significant amount of weight? (I'd eventually like to lose around 20-30 pounds)
2) Are there any exercises I could do indoors to help lose weight?
3) Does anyone know of anything else I should be doing to help me lose weight?
Answers: Drink a lot of water.
Could you try running. Start out as a power walk or a jog and as you get fitter start running.
Cardio is the best way to lose fat.
Skip (with a jump rope).
You could buy exercise DVDs. You can get aerobic work outs as well as gentler yoga/pilates. Browse around to see what interests you.
You could also consider seeing your doc. If you are overweight without over eating you may have a thyroid problem or something.
I love Winsor Pilates, it's like a 20 minute work-out that you can do at home. The funny thing is, you really don't even break a real sweat (it's not cardio, at all) and if I do it 2-3 times a week, I can pretty easily shake about 6-8 pounds(over a few weeks or so)-without changing my eating habits! I bet you can find the DVD on ebay for pretty cheap. Good luck!

first off, i know exactly how you feel, im in school too, and it feels like it's impossible to get any excercise from just getting up at 6, getting ready, and slowly walking to the bus stop.
then 7 hours of school.
then 1 hour of guitar practice.
then like 2-3 hours of homework.
then the rest of my time doing social stuff like myspace, aim, and talking on the phone.
but then i realized, i can actually do excercises in between everything.
i woke up an hour early (5 am) to excercise. i know it sounds like hell, but you get used to it in a couple of days. it actually feels good if you go out and jog in the cold air. it's a nice breeze and wakes you up! :D
then, i ate a healthy breakfast, full of fiber and water. NO SUGAR!!
go do your thing at school (at lunch eat fruits, veggies, no dark meats, water water water no soda.)
when you get home, it actually takes the stress off if you excercise for however long you can.
then you should lose the weight, i did!
i lost like 13 lbs in a month and a half, and i'm 14 years old, 5ft 3 98 lbs, mantaining the body im satisfied with and loving it!
i feel so much better about myself, it's easy as long as you have patience and a lil bit of willpower!
hope it helps, and good luck!

Losing weight. PLEASE HELP !?
ok i'm around 135 pounds and 5"2 i'm 13 and everytime i try to lose weight by eating less after i just pig out plz tell me how i can stop !!Answers: You need to do three things, and do them in this order:
1) Stop worrying so much about your weight. You haven't finished growing yet, and your body maybe packing some stuff on in preparation for a growth spurt of some sort. Once you get a handle on the next two things your weight will sort itself out.
2) Learn to eat healthy. Eat lean (less fatty) meats (meaning lean steak, pork, turkey, chicken, tuna and salmon), and fresh vegetables. Avoid eating sugars and processed carbohydrates like breakfast cereals (almost all of it is bad) breads etc. (you don't have to cut them out of your diet completely, just cut WAY back). No more candy bars (but "pure" chocolates are ok in small doeses once or twice a week).
Remember, Meats and Vegetables. When you go to McDonalds get a Hamburger, a side salad, that fruit and yogurt dish and an ice tea or water. Lots of goodness there, even if the burger is a little on the fatty side.
3) Start playing more seriously. Find outdoor activities you like to do, go for long walks with friends, take dance lessons (if your parents can afford it etc.) Ride your bicycle. Get active.
At 13 this should be all you need. As you get older start going to the gym and lifting weights 30 minutes twice a week.
Try exersising instead of dieting. Dieting, especially without exersise, doesn't work because your body feels deprived and you end up pigging out. Jog, dance, bike, jump rope. Do something every day that will make you sweat, and keep doing it for at least 45 minutes. That should help.
BTW, if you already a good runner and run a lot then do some other exersise. Your body gets used to the same kind of exersise and figures out a way to burn less calories.
Instead of dieting, whichis a temporary approach, change your food patterns for life. Stop drinking soda and eating fries, for example. Eat healthy food instead, like a glass of juice and a slice of bread will be a better alternative to soda and fries.
walk alot
it helped me im also 13 but im 5'3 and 106
i used to be 117 before

Can Lots of Fruit make you fat eventually?
I eat about half a bag of grapes , 3 apples, a bag of salad and an orange a day ....I never eat candy or anything unhealthy , and i am 125lbs and about 5'10"...is it possible to get fat from this diet?Answers: You won't get fat - chances are you will have terrible diarrhea and get seriously ill if that is all you eat. The key to staying healthy is balance. A balanced diet and enough sleep/rest. You need to have many different foods in your diet to get all the nutrition you need. Vegies, fruit, grains, meat or comparable and dairy.
eat grape is 3 calories
but you have to eat foods other than just fruit. that's not healthy either
eating too much of anything is bad.
but hey sounds like your healthy & super skinny.
you should probably add some protein in your diet, like nuts or beans if your a vegetarian :)
good luck.
remember if you feel healthy, that's all that matters.
Um, 125 and 5'10"...getting fat from fruits is the least of your worries. Get some help. Sounds like you have an eating disorder. Especially if you are that obsessed about eating the right amount of fruits and whether they will make you fat.
Is it okay to eat dark chocolate on a diet?
I had a piece earlier today and I'm wondering if I should skip dinner now :(Answers: Absolutely. Dark chocolate has antioxidants, which prevent cancer. It's heath food. You don't have to skip dinner.
I think you are fine and shouldn't skip dinner. Skipping a meal will be more harmful because you're not getting the nutrients you need. Just make sure it's a healthy meal. To have one piece of dark chocolate has been proven to be good for you.

I know this sounds so unhealthy, but how much weight could you lose in a month if you only had 200 calories?
everyday?? like how much weight would you lose?? does anyone know? thanks!Answers: all that will do it throw your body into starvation mode...and even if you do drop some weight...when you start eating again...you will gain it back and more. Just do some research and make up your mind. I recently lost 40 pounds and went from a 14 to a size 8...with a size 6 as my goal. If I can do it at 55...you can do it! You go girl! But don't starve yourself and risk your health. <><
why would you want o know??
dont do it!
once you do you screwed your life up forever.
so ikm not even going o answe this quetion.
if a person was to only take in that many calories each day for a month u would be either dead or losing so much weight tht ur ugly. and if u only take in that much a day ur muscles would just give out and u wouldnt be able to hold urself up even
