Diet Fitness Questions and Answers
Why would Jogging make you have nausea?
I usually jog 3 miles 4-5x a week 10 min per mile. Today after I finished I felt as if I was gonna puke. My stomache still bothers me 8 hours later. I wasnt sure if I was gonna make it home (I drove to where I was jogging). I never had such a horrible feeling and I didn't feel sick while I was jogging. Do you think its a virus or an effect from jogging?Answers: You might be dehydrated. Try having half a cup of a sports drink before going out (use Powerade's diet sports drink if calories are a concern) and then when you get home, have a snack of something line low-fat string cheese and whole wheat crackers.
Nausea is a symptom of dehydration. It's possible if you are not eating or drinking enough, you could get that esp. after
physical activity.
Whenever i push myself really hard - cardio vascular wise, i puke, i usually take it as a good thing - means i worked hard (^.^)
Any tips on how to lose weight when working 3rd shift?
I am a 25 yr old female who works as a Nurse's Assistant on 3rd shift. For the past 7 months, I have been battling weight gain. I used to weigh in at 133 for quite a few years, but lately I'm 156, give or take a few lbs.I sleep most of the day and usually eat a meal at around 6-8pm, then again between 1-3am to stay awake. Usually snacks, (like pretzels, cottage cheese w/ crackers, popcorn) sometimes a salad, sandwich or a slice or two of pizza--only thing to order that late at night.
Most of the extra weight is in my stomach and thighs. I have noticed my face getting slightly fatter and my upper arms as well.
It's hard to eat a balanced meal 3 times a day because of my work schedule. Any tips for late meals and midnight snacking? Thanks!
Answers: You should know that working that shift will throw your metabolism off, but perhaps it has thrown your hormones off as well. I would suggest talking to a doctor about your problem...exercise and eating right is great, but it may not help you the way you need with that schedule. Good luck and thank you for taking care of us when most people sleep.

Eating 3 apples a day to lose weight?
eating 1000 calories a day is alot to me,but mom says its not enough.im trying to loose weight i now way 200 pounds im so fat. and my friend weighs 150 and she ate 1000 calories or less a dayshe ate
3 apples a day and drunk NOTHING but water.and now shes
130 and looking great.
Answers: 1.Set goals. You'll be better able to make a realistic weight loss plan if you know how much weight you want to lose.
2.Identify your weaknesses. Are you a bread fiend? Do you have dessert after every meal and every snack? Is McDonald's your second home? Find the weakness and throttle it. It does not own you, you are stronger and cooler than to allow some silly little craving to knock you off your path.
3.Throw away anything you know is tempting. Those cinnamon buns with 500 calories each? Gone. The ramen noodles in your cabinet? Gone. The problem is that this is not always feasible. Often times we are not the only ones in our homes and therefore the call of the food must be withstood. In this case, out of sight truly is out of mind. Put unhealthy, unfilling foods in a drawer or in a cabinet that you rarely use. Put them all together to make a particularly unappetizing sight. Don't place them all in a decorative basket out on the counter. Place them in a drawer. A drawer heaping with pastries rarely looks like anything but a drawer of fat.
4.Eat less, but eat more often. If possible, eat 4-5 meals a day. This helps your metabolism and blood sugar to stay level as well. This does require a change in your schedule. Eat less within 6 hours of your bed time. You're less likely to burn the calories closer to your bed time. It's fine to eat a large breakfast and lunch because your body will be working on burning those calories for the whole day. Large dinners are likely to go unburned and converted into fat.
5.Do not skip breakfast. If you don't have time to prepare breakfast, buy healthy breakfast bars or those smoothies on the go. It is important to eat breakfast to jump start your metabolism and give you energy for the day. Otherwise you will probably end up falling back on unhealthy foods during the day. Yogurt is also known to boost your metabolism.
6.Eat healthy snacks when you feel hungry between meal times. Healthy snacks would be things high in fiber, fruits and vegetables. Avoid high sugar and high calorie snacks. This will help you get nutrients as well as help lower your appetite so you won't overeat during meals.
7.Increase your fiber intake. Fiber acts as negative calories. It's also filling and healthy for your digestive system. Make it a part of every meal.
8.Eat slowly and chew more. Take time to enjoy your meals. This will help you to finish at the same time as others, and you'll not be tempted by a second helping. Also, chewing more will ensure you get the most out of all the food and it will be digested faster. The more you chew, the more your appetite will be satiated.
9.Drink more water every day. Stay hydrated. While you don't need 8 cups of water a day to stay hydrated, it'll make sure you're hydrated as well as cut down on your hunger levels and force you to get a little bit more exercise (trips to the sink, water cooler, water fountain, and bathroom). If you're a heavy soda drinker, permit yourself to only one diet soda per day, maximum. Just one extra soda each day can add 15 pounds. Recently, fizzy drinks, even diet ones, have been said to slow down metabolism.
10.Increase physical activity. There are two ways to reduce net caloric intake: 1) reduce the number of calories in your diet and 2) Increase the number of calories that you burn in your daily activities. Both approaches are usually necessary and healthful and both are effective in losing weight. You can pick and choose which exercise you want to do, depending on your fitness level and drive. For example: walking, jogging, using the stair stepper, using cross training machines, swimming, tennis, and basketball. Weight training (and resistance training) can help reshape your body. The more muscle you have the higher your metabolism will be.
11.Find active friends. Find people that will drag you out to do more active things. It doesn't have to be much, but any exercise even walking around the mall is better than none.
12.Don't get discouraged. After one or two weeks of initial weight loss, it is quite common for your metabolism to slow down as it adjusts to the new calorie count. Stay on course and you'll see results. In some cases, the scale will tell you your weight is barely changing, but you may be gaining muscle weight while losing fat weight. Also make sure to weigh yourself first thing in the morning to try to avoid the fluctuations in weight due to water.
13.Take all advice with a grain of salt. Everyone is going to have some tidbit of information for you. What worked for them might not work for you. Take it all in stride and work with what is getting results for you. Trying to do everything everyone says will only cause overload.
14.Eat more protein. If you choose to go this route, do not cut out all carbs. If you do so, as soon as you start eating carbs again you will regain your weight back. Instead of eating stand alone pasta, throw some meatballs or chicken in. Eat some beans, they are high in protein and very healthy for you. Increase the ammount of protein, but not by too much. The more protein you take in, the more water you should drink as well.
15.Eat less calories. The average woman should eat around 2,000 calories a day and the average male 2,500. There's many ways to reduce the calories you intake. Try not to eat frozen dinners, pizza, or from fast food joints. There's also certain drinks, such as Green Tea that are calorie reducers. Lettuce is another calorie reducer, but be careful because dressing tends to have the calories. Low fat/light vinnegette, balsomic vineger, red wine and vineger are pretty healthy dressings, but do not load it on
Actually there is a 3 apple a day diet called the "Golds Gym Apple diet" BUT, the idea is to eat 3 apples a day in addition to wholesome foods.
The apples are high in fiber and water so they fill you up so that you eat less at meals and avoids snacking on junk food.
You should be eating about 1,200 calories minimum other wise down the road your metabolism will slow down and will start gaining weight even if you just ate 500 calories a day.
If you seriously want to lose weight, here are things you MUST use or you'll regret they day you got on a diet:
1. Buy coconut oil and rub it all over your body or you will get fat lines. Even if you have some now, when u lose weight they might show more, so u need coconut oil or grapeseed oil.
2. Take Multi-Vitamins. You can find it at a pharmacy it says "multi-vitamins"
3. Instead of eating 3 apples a day, I think it's better to eat 1 apple, and 2 oranges a day because you really need calcium if your going to diet.
4. if you want to look your best and have a great beach babe body, I suggest you work out each day with your diet. It's the best.
5. Drink as much water as you can. You need water to stay beautiful.
ya, so I hope you'll succed!!
It's hard to give you a recommendation without knowing how old you are or what your activity level is.
However I can say this: A diet of less than 1200 calories does not have adequate vitamins and minerals. Also, it slows your metabolism causing you to burn fewer calories. That's right, you'll burn more calories by eating a little more.
Drinking just water is great. That eliminates sodas and other calorie rich drinks. Sodas, even diet sodas, are not healthy.
Eating too much of just one food keeps you from eating foods you need to get vitamins and minerals that are not in the food you are eating. In other words, to get enough of all the different vitamins you need to eat a variety of food.
And don't forget to exercise. :)
What do you think when you hear the measurements 35-27-39?
Everyone give me your opinions what you think the perfect body is.Answers: Ha ha, you have almost the same measurements as me, a curvy pear shape.
I bet loads of people will say 36-24-36, but lets admit that's hardly realistic for 99% of women.
I think the perfect body is one that you are most happy with.
Hopefully, it is someone who is comfortable with who she is, since her confidence projects the perfect body.
Tips to get ripped?
I have started goin to the gym 3 times a week and want to get a ripped 6 pack, anybody got any good tips? ive already got a 4 pack. best excercises to isolation the bottom of ma stomache? Wats best to eat? how often? etc etcbtw my deadline to get a 6 pack and ripped in general is 10 weeks. . . can i do it?
Answers: Anyone who asks this type of question, needs to provide their stats(height, weight, etc). 10 weeks? It's possible, but it depends on where you are now. A "6-pack" is achieved not by doing crunches everyday, but by having a lower % of body fat. 9%-14% of body fat would be a healthy range. Although doing your crunches will definitely make them look better once you've toned down your body fat. Everyone has abs, you just can't see it because of all that fat layering over it.
TIPS
Diet is very, very, important.
First thing you do when you wake up in the morning, go do some sprints, run a mile, any aerobic exercise to start up your body's metabolism.
Eat about 6-8 small meals a day, around 1200-1500 calories(learn your portions)
Simple rule - spend more calories than you take in(think about this- don't think you can eat 3000 calories a day and burn 1500 of it that same day, doesn't work like that.)
You should be SUPPLEMENTING with exercise, not CATCHING UP. Don't think, oh i'll eat this and burn it off/make up for it later- chances are you won't.
If your eating right, exercise will speed things up. If you have a poor diet, exercise as much as you want. You will still stay the same.
Sitting around the house watching t.v./being on the computer all night, won't do you any good.
Don't just focus on your abs, in fact, don't make this a short term "i want to get a 6 pack goal", make this a change in your life. Keep a healthy diet, exercise regularly, educate yourself on health and fitness. Short term goals = recipe for failure/lack of commitment.
Pull-ups. Buy a pull-up bar from wallmart. Every time you use the bathroom, max out a set of pull-ups. Can't emphasize enough on pull-ups.
Hydrate. Drink 8 glasses of water a day.
What makes people fat? salt/sodium, sugar, fat. Those instant cup noodles your eating, 54% daily value intake of sodium. And people wonder why their so puffy when they wake up in the morning. (same thing with alcohol and hangovers, best thing to do is stay hydrated before and after, the bread thing is a myth).
You can't really avoid, but keep salts, sugars, and fats to a minimum. Always pick the healthier alternative. Almond butter, honey, etc. Avoid that sodium. You will get all the sodium you need naturally from what you eat.
Make a COMMITMENT. Buy a year's supply worth of protein supplement. Expensive, and you won't want to waste it.
That first month, is going to be the hardest. You should consider getting personal training at your gym. Ask around for someone who has a degree/certification or specializes in nutrition.
The perfect answer for you.
Once you get away from the myth that a 1000 crunches and 500 situps a day is all you need to do for great abs, then amazing results can be seen.
Different people take different times but you can guarantee you re not wasting any energy when you follow this guide.
Some secrets and tips can be found on this website and it also includes an amazing step by step guide. Lots of diet tips as well and find out why most of the gadgets like vibrating belts have no effect at all.

CAN YOU REALLY LOSE WEIGHT will little or no xcercise??
I mean if you count your caloties in half and not eat after 6pm can u lose weight??Answers: definetly...the diet that you follow ultimately determines your weight and body composition (amount of muscle and fat), exercise only plays a very small role in the equation. the more whole foods in your diet the healthier you will be and the easier it is to manage and maintain a healthy weight and body fat %. forget about the not eating after "x" time of day, there is no science behind it and it can actually impede fat loss vs accelerate it. the body needs nutrients every 3-4 hours that it is awake, and starving the body for 50% of the day will only cause the metabolic rate to slow or remain slower than it should be under normal operating conditions.
It depends on your metabolism, but generally, sure, cutting your calories in half and not eating after 6 should work.
But exercise would speed things up, and bring other health benefits.
Yes, if you eat very few calories you will lose weight with no exercise. As soon as you start eating normally again though, you will gain it all back, plus more. So, the smart thing to do, is to eat healthy and exercise. This is the only way to keep the weight off.
Good Luck!!
The way not to do it is starve yourself, to start with. Just exercise and eat right. I did....lost 90 LBS because of it. Starving yourself won't help at all. Drink more water, eat less before bed, and don't eat for stress are the 3 things I follow and i'm going pretty well if i don't say myself. 90 LBS isn't anything like 5-10lbs so take my advice. If you want anymore details, feel free to email me. Just please be patient for ppl seem to email me for advice on this, I will reply, don't worry! ~Adia
Do calories still matter if i eat healthy food?
im 12 years oldand im trying to lose my unnecessary weight and im trying to eat more healthily
ohh and i excercise 30-45 minutes almost everyday
Answers: Thats very good well done - your doing the right thing just keep happy too and you wont go far wrong.
Dont worry too much about calories -its all blown out of proportion- forget calorie counting until your at least 21
Well, calories are basically energy, so when you eat more calories than you use, then you gain weight so as long as you're using all your calories, it doesn't matter.
Gastric bypass?
What exacly is this surgery? How is the procedure? What is the minimun age that someone can do this surgery? If I am 60lb over weight should I do this surgery? Please some one help me answer all this question or atleast most of them please well thankyou.Answers: The most popular gastric bypass surgery is called Roue en-Y. It involves stapling your stomach to make a smaller pouch and then rewiring your intestines so there is less used for digesting food. This is done by a surgeon, and takes a lot of commitment. There are many requirements you must fulfill before you can get approval for the surgery. I don't believe there is a minimum age but usually doctors won't perform the surgery if you are over 65. I had the surgery 10 weeks ago and my brother had it 5 years ago. If you want to know more, see your general doctor and then come to our Yahoo Group called Weight Loss Surgery Friends & Support. Good Luck.
http://www.obesitysurgeryla.com/
I dont think a surgeon will perform this procedure on anyone less than 100 pounds overweight
Visit www.obesityhelp.com it explains all types of weight loss surgery's. I highly doubt you would qualify for any of those surgeries since you are not 100 lbs. overweight. You can check your bmi there too. Usually (not always) you need a bmi of 40 or higher.
