Is there ANYTHING that actually supresses appetite?

if something has worked for you, please share.
Answers: what i've actually found to work is peanut butter.
when i think about it i'm like "ooh im hungry.. yay peanut butter!" and by the time i finish half of the tablespoon i don't even want the rest. it sticks to your stomach.. :)
water works too..and i've read a magazine article before about people losing weight and suppressing appetite through drinking water of different temperatures. aka room temperature first thing in the morning, hot in the afternoon(tea or coffee) and the ice water at night. i guess you can vary depending on what you like. ice water speeds up your metabolism and it's good to drink room temperature water 30 mins before you eat; you feel fuller and don't eat as much.
also room temp water is easier going down and races into your body faster.. aka HYDRATION! hope i helped.. :)
unless you are eating over and above a normal diet supressing the appetite will only make you hungry and malnourished. your appeitite is there to tell you when to eat to feed your body.

If you are eating too much, drink iced water before and between meals.
High-fiber foods mixed with a little lean protein really suppresses my appetite. Sometimes, chewing sugarfree gum works for me, too. Water or ice chips can help suppress appetite by filling up your belly and leaving something in your mouth, as in the case with ice chips. If you use ice chips, don't chew on them or you can break your teeth.

Some swear by unsweetened green tea. But unsweetened green tea isn't very palatable.

Strenuous exercise will suppress appetite. Start running, build up a really good sweat. Keep going vigorously for 5-10 minutes and that should suppress your appetite.
Prescription appetite suppressants. Phentermine for instance...in my experience it definitely worked. Lots of doctors are against them though because of the myriad of possible negative side effects...so whether or not it is appropriate for you is definitely dependant on your situation, and would be decided best by your doctor.

What is up with these online "calories burned calculators?"?

Why on earth does my elliptical machine (after 35 minutes of an intense workout) say I have burned 212 calories (it doesn't ask for weight or height or anything) but on these online calories burned calculators it said that since I weigh 118 lbs and did it for 35 min I should have burned 335 calories! Thats a huge difference! Who is right and how can I know how many calories Iv'e burned? Thanks and God bless
Answers: Because the machine did not ask for your weight and height, it calculated according to the formula entered into its system. Since the average person should weight about 150lbs, that's what the calorie burn is geared toward. Furthermore, the machine doesn't accurately take into account your musculature and intensity.

The calorie calculator is probably more accurate.
Of course, it all depends on the intensity of your workout (how high the resistance is, how fast you go, whether you lean on the machine, stand without holding on, or use your arms to push and pull on the handles), but also on your age and weight.

Usually I would say the elliptical machine is wrong because they grossly overestimate your calorie burn, but in this case it says you burned less than the online calculator.

I suggest going to target and getting a heart rate monitor (you wear is as a strap under your shirt) and watch (the two devices talk to each other). You will get a much more accurate read-out.

question to all with a healthy/perfect body: what are your routines?
Answers: Theres no reason you cant run and weightlift on the same day. Some people do whole body workouts a couple times a week, but I dont recommend it. I think the best thing to do is keep your workout sessions short, always less then an hour. When you go over that, you dont really have the energy to continue a good beneficial workout. I think you should focus on a couple muscle groups in each workout session for 45 minutes. I think you should goto bodybuilding.com (click on the forum link, not the store) and read the guides and look at the forums. Also forum.steroid.com, read the bodybuilding stuff, forget the steroid stuff. They have guides and workouts. Its also very important that you look at the nutrition area so you know how to eat correctly in order to maximize muscle gain.

I Want to Get ABS, but how?

I have been working out at the gym now for almost 4 yrs. I know you cannot spot reduce, but can't you tone a certain area. I mean your working a certain muscle group, wouldn't it make sense that that muscle would grow? What I'm asking is...how do you gets defined abs?
Answers: Yes I agree with pixie for extreme definition for muscle very low body fat is one answer but there is a limit you can drop to before it can be a hazard to youre health, well I guess since you have been bodybuilding for 4 years then I would expect you would have that experience and/or knowledge anyways, so basically given all the the right nutrients etc the rest is purely down to the physical effort!

Work out plan that will increase my bench press max?

I have a police officer physical test in about a month and half and i need to increase my max bench press. Not a large amount but i do need some gain... Should I take any supplements to help and if yes then what one?
Answers: creatine and protein will help. at least one gram of protien per day, per body weight. 5 gr. creatine per day. if you wanna increase you max you gotta lift heavy, (make sure you have a spotter). if youve never lifted before (or not in months) you have to start lighter. try picking a weight you can do 10-12 times for 3-4 sets for the first couple weeks. make you sure your muscles recover (not sore) before your next workout (about 2-5 days usually). after the first 2 weeks, try increasing the weight and doing routines like 5 sets of 5 reps. or 6-4-2-1 reps, incresing the weight each time. the goal is to change your workout each time, and lift a lil more weight each time, to shock ur muscles into growing and getting stronger. you dont want to over do it at the beginning tho and be sore for a week, but you want to be a lil the next day or two to know you working hard enough. also finish out your workout with tricep excercises as they will help aid your bench press.

Answers: i dont know anything about ballet but training is training... i feel something should be in your system so you have energy to burn, but NEVER eat directly before you train.... too much blood pumping in your stomache for your other muscles to work to their full affect... there is a reason they said wait a half hour to swim after you eat
Eating b4 u train is a gr8 way to get major cramps. I always ate after ballet training, I found that my body needed it & on the plus side my muscles are still burning the calories.

What the hell is the cabbage soup detox diet?

What the hell does it do to you, and why should i do it? I am looking for more than a layman's unqualified guesstimate. I understand basic chemistry and am educated. Do you know?
Answers: You don't need a college diploma to explain the cabbage soup diet. If you eat enough of that darn soup then you will poop more than you ever thought possible. If you are full of s@#t now then you will become invisible.

How can i lose 20lbs by Feb 2008? is it healthy in that amount of time? What are good easy to follow diets?


Answers: Yes. That is a VERY attainable goal. You just have to lose about a pound and a half each week.

What you should do:

1. Start running or using exercise machines (treadmill). Try to do 45 minutes a day, M-F
2. Lift weights on three days.
3. Eat very well. Eliminate junk from the diet. Go with natural carbs like brown rice. Substitute goodies with apples.

I am doing the same thing right now because I want to lose 20 pounds by January (started my program three weeks ago).

The diet I'm eating is deathly boring, but I suspect it is going to pay off...

How do i get more even abs?

I have been working out for about 5 months and I am 14 years old. I've been doing basic ab workouts like crunches and reverse crunches but one side of my stomach is much more defined. On the left side they are very defined and solid but on the right side they are barely defined. I was just wondering if I'm doing something wrong and if there's a way to work out one side more than the other. Thanks.

How do you detox ?

I have been thinking about getting healthier and I want to start off my life change with a detox however I don't want to take any pills or anything like that what is the best detox that you can do Please explain it in detail and give websites if possible

you start by understanding the function of the liver. Clean it first with a natural blend of herbs. If the liver does not function, most of the systems get backed up. It seem simple but it is the way it works. This is especially true if you want to lose body fat!
Start eating fruits, nuts and veggies only, no refined foods, breads, sugar, flour, dairy, non-hydrogenated oils.
Did it 6 years ago, and lost 75lbs, and face cleared up.
