What keeps you discipline to lose weight?

what kind of mindset do people have trying to lose some pounds? What is that motivation that keeps them going?
Answers: I think the best mindset is one of "chasing life and lifestyle." The good news is: the effect of a healthy diet and exercise is almost immediate. Once you start to feel better, you will be motivated to maintain that feeling. Eating healthy food, exercising, getting enough rest, and drinking enough water does make you feel better--the fact that it makes you look better is just a bonus.

I watched other models and then i see their abs or just put a big poster and listen to music that you like thats how i do !!!!!
I lost 50 pounds and I just taped a bunch of skinny celebrites on my fridge and on my alarm clock. It obviously worked..I just focused mainly on looking like them and now I do...Size 12 to Size 2 in 3 months baby!
Depends on the person. I just know I feel better at a healthy weight. I think about how I feel when I eat junk, and how I don't like the way I look when I put on weight. I refuse to buy a bigger size. If something gets tight, it lets me know I need to watch it. It's a constant reminder to keep on track until the clothes aren't tight anymore.
Good principle of planing in mind and of course into practice too.
the idea of asking myself how good I am. I'm very confident in my abilities and I believe I can do anything, I would want to prove to myself this is true.

my motivation for staying in shape is my favorite jeans. they were $300 and they are a size 25. i've had them and fit into them for about a year now.
Just knowing that I'm doing everything I possibly can to have a healthy and fit body keeps me motivated. Even if the weight loss is slow, i know I'm at least trying.
looking at those really obese people and then those really good looking celebrities that get a lot of attention.
Well, I was raised that if you get fat, no one will love you or marry you, and that a fat wife is grounds for divorce.

As an adult, I just tell myself the importance of eating healthy, how much better I feel when I exercise, and my reward will be hot sex from my boyfriend!

and how do u get rid of extra fat?? whats a good diet and exercise plan for both these things?? i dont have a lot of extra fat just a little bit.

Answers: Dramatic and quick weight loss will not be a solution in the long run.
Avoiding foods that are high in saturated fats and also high sugar levels (as sugar that is not used by the body turns to fat)
Maintain a heathly diet consitanly including essentiual foods such as some carbrohydrates,protien and vegs.
And beleive or not simply walking at your own pace then increasing the distance of how far you walk will work in conjuction with a healthy diet.
Not only will your body benefit but your confidance will also.As you see yourself slowly lose the weight you will be far more inclined to keep up the work and you will feel great about it.
I know because this is how i did it.And i had a lot of weight to loose and i did this for around a year and have never returned to the weight that i once was.Also you can do stretching exercises whilst watching tv etc
I know it sounds good to loose it quickly but in reality that would just be a yoyo diet.If you make it part of you life then it becomes routine and i promise you will feel great!!!

When we take a multi vitamin does our stomach absorb it or does it end up in the sewer?

Answers: When you take any vitamin, your body will take what it needs and the rest will end up in the toilet. If you take to much Vitamin C your urine will be bright yellow or Orange. It is good to take a multivitamin because it is a catch all, it will retain what it needs and dispose of what it does not. In the winter make sure you bulk up on vitamin c and echanechia, but only for six weeks on and six of for the echanechia though. Peace be with you!
They actually did a study that vitamins and minerals that we obtain from eating foods that contain them is much more effect than vitamins taking in pill form. They found that a large percentage of pill vitamins is not digested and is just flushed out. Let me see if I can find the article then I'll post a link.

How can my busy schedule help me to lose weight?

I want to lose 30 pounds in 6 months but with my busy schedule I find it impossible to lose weight. I hardly find the time to exercise. The only exercise I get is swimming for 1/2 an hour twice a week during weekends. I tried cutting down calories but failed because I been working the whole day, it is impossible to eat 1200 calories a day, which makes me starve. I work from 9am-6pm on weekdays and sometimes have to stay back late. Can anyone give me a good advice on how to lose weight fast?
Answers: Try to up your calories to 1300-1400 per day. Make sure you are getting nutritious foods that are not calorie dense and are big on volume. Try things like brothy soups (Progresso soups generally contain 200-250 calories in a can) and a piece of whole wheat bread. Add lean meats like grilled chicken or tuna packets to 2-3 cups of leafy greens and a low-calorie dressing. Also add bell peppers, cucumbers, and tomatoes. When you eat out, know in advance what your under-400 calorie meal will be. DROP the soda, sweet teas, and coffee drinks.

You only work 9-6, so you definitely have time to work out, millions of other working men and women (including moms and dads) do it on a full time job. Your best bet is to get 30-60 minutes of cardio in before work and then do resistance workouts after you get home. Also, if you have a 45 minute to 1 hour break for lunch, take a brisk walk, at least 15 minutes.

Sleep & drink water.

Forget any suggestions to cut a food group (like dairy) or macronutrient (like carbs), you'll only hurt yourself.

30 in 6 months,,,,, I lost 90 in 7-9 months....please take my advice...The way not to do it is starve yourself, to start with. Just exercise and eat right. I did....lost 90 LBS because of it. Starving yourself won't help at all. Drink more water, eat less before bed, and don't eat for stress are the 3 things I follow and i'm going pretty well if i don't say myself. 90 LBS isn't anything like 5-10lbs so take my advice. How can i become more fit?

I lost like almost 15 pounds and stuff and I just want to know how I can become more fit/stronger? I usually do a set of 25 pound weights once a day for my arms. But I want something so I can actually become more stronger. Like for instance I would really like to have abs.

Building Arms?

I've been trying to build my arms to look big by doing everything...barbell curls, dumbell curls, concentration curls...etc. Currently my arms are small when relaxed but when contracted have pretty good size... How can i build my arms so i can get those "sleeve busting arms" or atleast make my arms appear large when relaxed. ( I'm a pretty lean guy so my arms are naturally small )
Answers: Nutrition is obviously something you need to look at. Growth doesn't occur unless you are eating more calories than you are burning with all of your exercise. Especially important is what you eat right after your workout. At that point you need a protein that is very easy to digest and some simple carbohydrates.

Secondly, you only mentioned bicep exercises. Half of your arm's visible size is the triceps on the back of the arm. Yes, they aren't as impressive as a bicep, but they will still make your arm look bigger. So make sure you get some tricep exercises into your routine as well.

My goal is thanksgiving??

its october 24th today, but i will begin my new diet/exercise regiment tomorrow..
with that being said, how many pounds do u think i can loose by thanksgiving (i thinks its november 22nd?)
- would a fruit/veggie diet be effective? or what other diets ddo u kno that would be effective in this time frame?
- as for exercise i usually walk/run but the weather is declining.. any ideas? to burn themst calories. tone up

As for food, just make healthy choices. I wouldn't recommend restricting your intake to just fruits and veggies 'cause that's too hard to follow. I eat a lot of chicken, turkey, and veggies, and I only drink water (I actually don't like soda and juice). I try to eat things with less than 3 ingredients because I think all the additives in food is unhealthy (preservatives and such). I haven't been to gym in a while, but I walk at least 20 minutes every day and I can still wear my jeans from high school.

You should expect to lose around 4 - 5 lbs a month. A pound a week is the most you should lose and still be healthy.

Weight losssss?

Well I have been on birthcontrol for about about 6 months. I have gained about 15 pounds from it and I feel like a fat cow! How can I lose weight even though I am continuing to take my BC pills. Will I lose any weight even though I am on it.

Answers: I just started taking some of that natural HOODIA stuff you can get over-the-counter. Just make sure to put in a call to your doctor to make sure HOODIA won't counteract your BC pills. The hoodia boosted my energy and i lost a few pounds, after only taking a few pills.
You may lose weight but it might make you feel sick, you must ask your doctor about this because you just started taking the Birthcontol pills, it may not be good for you to try to lose weight because your taking those pills.

Go to your doctor and ask before you try to lose weight on your on, because it can be dangerous while on the pill.

Gluten Free? Organic or not?

Hi, I am not as far as I know allergic to gluten but was looking into trying a gluten free diet. I was hoping someone could tell me if gluten free is the most natural and healthy diet that I can be on. Would it make me feel better and healthier to exclude gluten from my diet?

Also are organic foods better than other foods? I am trying to find out the most natural and healthy eating plan.

I very much believe that our bodies are different and you need to try different things. I often do a 6 week experiment to see what works.

Organic is definitely better for you - more nutrition and less of the nasties that your body doesn't process well. A new 4 year study has just proven organic fruit, vegetables and milk definitely have more nutrients, vitamins and minerals.

A gluten free diet is only suitable for someone who has *either* been diagnosed as gluten intolerant *or* to eliminate gluten for a period in order to see if symptoms which may be caused by it go away.

The question about the most natural diet is pretty much a hot debate, but basically, eliminating processed foods and eating lots of fresh fruit and vegetables with small quantities of protein foods such as meat, fish, eggs and cheese is the central part of any of these. Kinda like a South Beach with extra carbs.

Organic foods are regarded as better for several reasons, including the fact that they will not contain antibiotic residues or chemical residues. Also, they often have higher levels of nutrients.

As you probably know, non-organic meat animals are routinely treated with antibiotic medication throughout their lives, not because they are ill but in an effort to stave off illness. This is part of the reason for the reduced efficacy of such medications nowadays.

Also, non-organic fruit and vegetables are sprayed with toxic chemicals several times during their growth, and fertilised with yet more chemicals.

If you want to avoid eating this stuff without realising it, you need to go organic.
It is really not suitable for anyone to be on the gluten free diet unless they medically need to be. (Note to other answerer, tylenol brand is GF. www.glutenfreedrugs.com).

When u cut out gluten you eliminate many whole grains and fibers your body needs (unless you have Celiac, an intolerance, an allergy or your child has autism.) So really a gluten free diet is not a healthy diet for someone who doesnt need it because many gluten free marketed foods add lots of sugar and fat to make up for the lack of gluten.
It may make u feelb etter in some aspects if u cut out the refined flours and white flours, but you shoudl replace them with whole grain flours and other grains.
You might enjoy other gluten free grains like amaranth, quinoa and buckwheat. (www.csaceliacs.org for a list of GF grains.)

Really its not worth your while to go GF unless you NEED to! YOu'll find yourself lacking in fiber and grains.

Organic is worthwhile on some things, especially some veggies and fruits. Its all really a matter of personal choice.

Answers: You actually are average for guys your age. At 12-13 years of age 50% of boys weigh 85-100lbs. Sounds perfectly healthy. As far as looking chubby, there really isn't anything that you can do about it. A lot of teenagers carry around "baby fat", and it is perfectly normal and healthy to have it until your body completely matures. I would give yourself a couple years, keep eating healthy and staying active, and I'm positive that you won't think you look chubby anymore. It's just a part of being a teenager.
ya. but it doesn't really matter your weight, it matters more what you look like because my weight looks nothing that I really am because I have muscle. & muscle weighs more then fat.
