I am completely serious about biking (3500) miles second year so thats my number one choice, but parts and being stranded beside flats can be bad.

I would enunciate to go swimming since it is a impressively low impact way of doing cardio and controlled breathing.
Swimming or walking? How in the order of trying an elliptical mechanism? I know this cuts down on knee strain...probably shin splints, too. The elliptical can burn alot of calories surrounded by a short period of time. For example, I can burn 500 calories contained by 32 minutes.
